WWE Releases Bray Wyatt – ComicBook.com

In a shocking turn of events, WWE has announced this morning that they've released Bray Wyatt from the company, and along with the announcement came the standard caption, which stated "WWE has come to terms on the release of Bray Wyatt. We wish him the best in all his future endeavors." While WWE has released a number of talents from its roster over the past few months, Wyatt's name being in the mix is truly shocking, as he's been one of the company's most high profile stars over the past two years with his reinvented Fiend character, which also launched the most recent version of Alexa Bliss. No reasoning was given, but it was odd that we hadn't seen Wyatt on WWE television since WrestleMania 37, where he had a match against Randy Orton in his big return. Then he lost that match after...

Bill Maher slams CDCs ‘confusing’ new mask guidance: Its called science, people! – Fox News

"Real Time" host Bill Maher mocked the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s updated mask guidance, calling it "confusing." "The CDC put out new mask guidelines now, which, it’s all just so f---in’ confusing," Maher said Friday evening on his HBO program. "Indoors, outdoors, vaccinated, not vaccinated, masked, not masked. The Walmart shoppers don’t know who to punch anymore." "So now we’re back to wearing the mask from the front of the restaurant until the waiter brings the breadsticks," Maher said. "It’s called science, people! Sometimes I think we have to cover our faces so other people can cover their a--." His comments came in response to the CDC updating its mask guidance Tuesday for vaccinated people over the threat of the delta variant of the virus. It now urges people ...

R. Kelly Says Jury Might Not Like LGBT, Wants McDonalds Evidence Nixed – TMZ

R. Kelly doesn't want the feds to be given a chance to prove he had sex with a male -- because the jury isn't ready for that wrench ... and might take it out on him in a verdict, assuming they're homophobic. The singer's legal team fired back to what federal prosecutors submitted last week -- namely, a request to have new evidence they say they have touching on several new allegations ... the most shocking of which being R. Kelly groomed and molested a 17-year-old boy. You'll recall ... prosecutors filed a bombshell jus...

For parents of unvaccinated kids, Delta variant raises questions – Los Angeles Times

New evidence about the Delta variant’s ability to infect and spread even among those who are fully vaccinated has been particularly alarming for parents of young children who are still not eligible for the COVID-19 vaccine. Many parents who thought their children faced limited risks of getting the coronavirus are now reassessing their stance. Health experts said parents should be extra careful with the highly contagious variant, which is causing infection spikes in Los Angeles County and many other parts of the country. But several also stressed that it’s important to keep the risks in context, adding that children could still go back to school with proper precautions. “Children need to be in school,” said Julie Swann, a health systems engineer at North Carolina State University. “Those...

Why kaatsu, a fitness trend spotted at the Games, isnt just for Olympians – CNN

The origins of this practice go back to 1966, when -- while sitting on his heels during a Japanese temple ceremony -- Yoshiaki Sato noticed his calves felt tingly and pumped up. Sato wondered if his limited blood flow was the key to experiencing that sensation, said Steven Munatones, the CEO of KAATSU, an eponymous blood flow restriction product and education company. Munatones cofounded KAATSU Global -- which translates to "additional pressure" in English -- with Sato in 2014 after being mentored by him about the Kaatsu technique for 13 years in Japan. Seven years after that initial tingly feeling, Sato "experimented with different kinds of bands placed on different locations on his body -- from his head to his torso to his lower legs," Munatones said via email. "In 1973, he experience...

Chart: Less than 0.1% of vaccinated Americans infected with COVID-19 – Axios

Of the 164 million vaccinated Americans, less than 0.1% have been infected with the coronavirus, and 0.001% have died, according to data from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Why it matters: While "breakthrough cases" have been getting some media attention, the low numbers show that the pandemic is mostly a threat for the unvaccinated population. "[V]accination is the most important strategy to prevent severe illness and death," the CDC noted in a recent report. Leaked CDC presentation slides showed that unpublished research indicated that the Delta variant causes more severe illness in unvaccinated people and spreads as easily as chickenpox. By the numbers: More than 99% of those vaccinated have not been infected, per the CDC. Only 0.004% have been hospitalized from the...

ZZ Top Play First Concert Since Bassist Dusty Hill’s Death – Rolling Stone

ZZ Top played their first concert since the death of bassist Dusty Hill on Friday in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. While guitarist Billy Gibbons didn’t speak at length about his late bandmate, he acknowledged the bassist a few times during the show, as well as Hill’s desire for the band to continue on without him. “We’re gonna have a good time in here tonight,” Gibbons told the audience following the opener “Got Me Under Pressure.” “Got a new guy up here, as you know. Dusty gave me the directive. My friend, your pal, Elwood Francis is gonna hold it down behind me.” Later in the show, Gibbons noted (via UCR), “How about that Elwood, tearing up that bottom there for Dusty.” Gibbons also joked that Francis was in the midst of growing a beard to fit his new role. Francis had serve...

Bay Area scientists explain why the delta variant is COVID on steroids – San Francisco Chronicle

By the time June 15 rolled around and San Francisco and the rest of California emerged from the prolonged pandemic lockdown, Peter Johnston was fully vaccinated and ready to have one of the best summers of his life. He hit bars and clubs in the Castro every Friday and Saturday, and a few weeknights in between. He rented a house in Carmel with some friends, then took a trip up to Guerneville with another group. “It was definitely a Roaring Twenties kind of thing,” said Johnston, 29, who said he found himself relating to the celebrations that followed the end of the 1918-19 pandemic and World War I. But the party came to an abrupt halt two weeks ago, when Johnston woke up one Monday feeling ill. He developed a bad cough, then fever and chills and body aches. He tested positive...

Florida and Delaware skew COVID death figures with massive data dump taking total up by 300% a day – Daily Mail

A massive data dump by Florida and Delaware has skewed the daily COVID-19 death figures compiled by the widely-respected Johns Hopkins University and made it appear that they jumped by 300 percent Friday. The figure trebled from 321 on Thursday to 891 on Friday raising fears that the more highly contagious Delta variant is now translating into spiraling fatalities nationwide.   Florida made up almost half of the daily tally, with 409 of the deaths recorded coming from the Sunshine State.  The state only reports its COVID-19 figures once a week on a Friday, meaning all deaths over the last seven days are added to the total in one lump sum and that the real daily change in the last 24 hours remains unknown.   Delaware also played a major part in sending the figures skyrocketing, as official...
