Coronavirus in Oregon: 334 new cases, 4 deaths; lottery prizes to encourage vaccinations – OregonLive

The Oregon Health Authority on Sunday reported 334 new presumed and confirmed coronavirus cases and four new deaths connected to COVID-19.

To increase the number of inoculated residents, on Friday Gov. Kate Brown announced lottery prizes ranging from $10,000 to $1 million for Oregonians 18 and older who’ve received at least one shot of the COVID-19 vaccine by June 27.

Vaccines: Oregon reported 29,464 newly administered doses, which includes 17,564 on Saturday and the remainder from previous days. The current rolling average is 31,010 doses every day.

Where the new cases are by county: Benton (4), Clackamas (26), Columbia (2), Coos (3), Crook (5), Deschutes (43), Douglas (10), Jackson (7), Jefferson (7), Josephine (5), Klamath (7), Lane (28), Linn (21), Marion (51), Morrow (1), Multnomah (67), Polk (4), Tillamook (1), Wasco (1), Washington (35) and Yamhill (6).

Who died: Oregon’s 2,619th COVID-19 death is a 51-year-old man from Clackamas County who tested positive on May 20 and died on May 21 at Legacy Meridian Park Medical Center.

Oregon’s 2,620th COVID-19 death is a 66-year-old woman from Clackamas County who tested positive on May 5 and died on May 22 at Legacy Emanuel Medical Center.

Oregon’s 2,621st COVID-19 death is a 67-year-old woman from Linn County who tested positive on May 1 and died on May 21. Her place of death is being confirmed.

Oregon’s 2,622nd COVID-19 death is a 58-year-old woman from Douglas County who tested positive on March 2 and died on May 21 at Mercy Medical Center.

Each person had underlying health conditions or state officials were determining if the person had medical conditions.

Hospitalizations: COVID-19 hospitalizations in Oregon continue to fall, dropping to 248 occupied beds on Sunday — 10 fewer than Saturday. There are 71 COVID-19 patients in intensive care, which is three fewer than on Saturday.

Since it began: Oregon has reported 198,689 confirmed or presumed infections and 2,622 deaths, among the lowest per capita numbers in the nation. To date, the state has reported 3,765,116 vaccine doses administered, fully vaccinating 1,726,292 people.
