The first ever Day 1 kicked off the year with a bang for the WWE, but with Royal Rumble 2022, we’re actually on the Road to WrestleMania.

The kickoff panel featured host Kayla Braxton and the wisdom of Jerry ‘The King’ Lawyer, Booker T, Kevin Patrick and Peter Rosenberg.
The highlight of the panel was Sonya Deville swinging by and under some questionining explaining how she can avoid a conflict of interest when she’s in the Rumble:
“When the jacket’s on I’m a WWE official who can’t be touched. When the jacket’s off…” well, the rest of the field in the Women’s Royal Rumble had better watch out.

As well as some incredibly hot video packages, we also got our predictions from the panel for the night ahead.
When it comes to the Men’s Rumble, Booker T seemingly Brock Lesnar (not a confirmed entrant) for the win, Jerry Lawler picked Omos, Rosenberg went for Austin Theory, and Kevin Patrick opted for Randy Orton.

WWE Universal Championship Match: Roman Reigns (c) vs Seth ‘Freakin’ Rollins
Roman Reigns swaggers out with the confidence of a man with over 500 days as a champ, but it’s deflated by Seth ‘Freakin’ Rollins, coming through the crowd to the SHIELD theme, wearing his full SWAT gear from the old days.
The Mind Games are in earnest, and McAfee also gives Mox a shoutout on commentary. The bell goes with Seth grinning like a madman, clearly getting under Reigns’s skin.
An early slingblade and clothesline over the ring, followed by a good pair of suicide dives gives Seth the early edge, but a big right hand from Reigns evens things out, before a Drive By puts him in control.
The pendulum swings back the other way, with Rollins getting Reigns through the table. He drags him back in to avoid the coountout. Off the top rope, but Reigns kicks out at two.

Not long after, Buckle Bomb and Curb Stomp gives Rollins two and three quarters. Tnis feels as close as Reigns has come to losing his title since he won it. A big clothesline from Reigns puts both men on the floor.
Reigns rains down blows and gets a two-count after a brutal sounding powerbomb. Rollins then goads Reigns into a triangle, but RR powers out and gets Rollins into the ringpost, then into the stairs.
Superman Punch! But it’s only good for two. Spear on the outside! He tries another on the inside but Rollins counters into a Pedigree! He just about rolls an arm over Reigns but the Big Dog kicks out.
Burn It Down! But Seth misses the stomp, and Reigns gets a Spear off the bounce. Rollins still laughing and laughing through the pain, fist raised. Riengs locks the guillotine! Rollins gets nearer and nearer the rope!
As Charles Robinson tests Rollins’ responsivity, Seth’s hand drops onto the rope. But Reigns refuses to break the hold. The ref implores Roman to release it but he refuses, after five it’s a DQ. Seth wins but Reigns retains!
Reigns holds on and on and on before eventually letting go. Roman Sucks! Yells the crowd. Reigns looks shellshocked.

The champ goes to the outside and gets a steel chair before returning to the ring for a bit of history.
BANG! Right to the back. and then he rains down blow after blow after blow after blow. Eventually he stops, but then gets a second chair and does it all over again till he eventually calms down and saunters out the arena, belt over his shoulder.
This one ain’t over…

Women’s Royal Rumble Match
First out is Sasha Banks, who of course made a shock return from injury just one day ago on SmackDown.
And next… out comes the red carpet for former champ Melina! Big grins from Sasha, an incredible splits on the apron from Mel. The bell goes and eventually the women collide when Melina goes for a kick, but Sasha blocks and tosses Melina over the top without much hassle. MELINA ELIMINATED.

Next in… Tamina! She’s not soaking up the moment, just swaggering out. A kick from Sasha. And then a dive (not over the top) to do some damage knees first. Sasha nearly gets Tamina over, and then gets a couple of meteorasand another failed attempt at an elmination.
Next in… Kelly Kelly! Another legends enjoying her moment. Sasha in trouble with Tamina, over the top but saved herself on the apron. Kelly Kelly goes head to head with Tamina and gets some joy, before getting thwacked to the ground. Then Sasha gets back involved.
Kelly Kelly gets Sasha by the throat with her legs, but puts herself in trouble as she’s on the apron and over the top… Sasha makes her regert it. KELLY KELLY ELIMINATED.

Next in… Aaliyah, who locks up with Sasha Banks. Tamina jumps up and gets involved before Sasha knocks out Tamina and then its back to Sasha and Aaliyah.
Next in… Liv Morgan who RACES to the ring. Does some damage to Aaliyah and NEARLY elminates Sasha befpor Tamina comes to the rescue. Trio of suplexes fom Sasha on Aaliya.
Next in.. Qyeen Zelina Vega. Things beggining to get a bit busy. Zelina and Sasha going at it. But Tamina gets Sasha over the top and then Zelina sneaks in with the kick to finish the job. SASHA ELIMINATED.
Tamina gets Aaliyah over the top but she gets back in.
Next in… Bianca Belair, Shge wastes no time making a nuisance of herself.. She’s got Zlina in the air and down ,before getting Liv Morgan ALMOST out. Splash on Zelina, who saves herself with a little bit of help from Tamina.
Next in… Dana Brooke, who goes straight for Aaliyah, then Zelina, before another save from Tamina. Dana does some damage to Tamina, then to Bianca and Liv. Bianca gets Aaliyah on the top, but Liv gets involved.
Next in… Michelle McCool! Another WWE legend and Hall of Famer. She gets a kick on a preacrious Dana Brooke.
Dana Brooke is caught by Reggie! Leap off the top from Dana but she’s caught by a big boot from Michelle McCool who then finishes the job. DANA BROOKE ELMIMINATED.
Next in… Sonya Deville. She takes her time coming to the ring, but keeps the jacket on and walks around the ring and goes to commentary. She’s not even entered the Rumble! Jacket is still on.
Not much happening in the ring before, Next in… Natalya! A proper swagger to her as she enters the ring and goes at it with Liv Morgan. Nattie almost elminiats her but not quite. Bianca Belair then gets Nattie on her sholders but Tamina makes the save.
Tamina goes for Bianca but Nattie runs to it and tosses them both over TAMINA ELIMINATED but Bianca saves herself! Next in… Cameron! A surprise returnee.
Soinya finds out about Cameron and Naomi’s history and it’s JACKET OFF. Sonya pops her mic off and runs into the ring. She makes relatively short work of Cameron with some help from the ring post and CAMERON ELIMINATED.
Next in… Naomi. She does not look happy and helps Cameron to her feet before locking up with Sonya and they just brawl. Naomi bounces off the rope with a big kick, gets Sonya on to the outside and then kicks her off. SONYA DEVILLE ELIMINATED.
Nattie tries to run her joy but fails to eliminate Naomi. Next in… Carmella. All getting a bit hectic in there. Carmella takign her time to enter the ring, having her natter with her man Corey Graves on commentary.
A lot of phyysical work in the corner, then Next in… Rhea Ripley. She makes the most of her entrance and then grabs Carmella and drags her in. But then Carm and Zelina rain down blows on her. Very messy now in that ring.
Zleina and Carmella try to team up on Rhea togther but ZELINA VEGA ELIMINATED and CARMELLA ELIMINATED together by a countering Ripley.
Next in… Charlotte Flair. Current SmackDown Women’s Champion who wants to win and pick her own WrestleMania opponent.
Natalya goes over the top and three wrstlers are trying to finish off the job as she hangs on to teh apron. Charlotte goes in with a big boot and immediatley gets to work AALIYAH ELIMINATED by Flair.
Some big chops from Charlotte to Naomi but Naomi saves herself acrtobatically but an already eliminated Sonya Deville finishes the job from the outside. NAOMI ELIMINATED.
Next in… Ivory! Looking prim as proper as ever. “Yes it’s been an awful long time, but I can see that nothing has changed.:
She’;s still got the mic in her hand as she decries the “Lost little girls” but Rhea Ripley isn’t having on of. Plonks her on the apron over the top, pats her on on the head, and pushes her off. IVORY ELMINATED.
Michelle Micoole has Charolotte nearly out but then Next in… Brie Bella. Brie Mode is in effect. She goes for it on her return to the WWE, giving it the Yes chants in honour of herAEW star husband Bryan Danielson.
She gets Natalya over the top and on the apron, but Nattie snaks back in and gets Brie on the top rope. Brie kicks her way back to safety.
Bianca Belair and Rhea Ripley have Charlotte in the air. Next in… IMPACT Women’s Champion Mickie James! One of the most suruirpsing names announced in advance of the Rumble, She waves that IMPACT belt for all its worth.
Michelle McCool does some damage before she even gets in, and thet two go at it, relivin that history. MICHELLE McCCOOL ELMINATED by Mickie James with a hurricanrana over the top.
Next in… Alica Fox. And she makes a big impact with kicks on Rhea, Liv and Mickie James. Next in… Nikki ASH, our Scottish superhero. Nikki dodges the ramp, goes around the other side and tries to get the hjump on Rhea Ripley. She gets her on the apron over the top but Rhea counters anbd returns to the ring, scaring Nikki out the bottom.
Now it’s Charlote an Ripley, Liv and Mickie where most of the action is. Rhea chops Charlotte. Next in… Summer Rae. She only has eyes for Natalya and trhows endless fists at her before Nattie ghets to her feet they exchange slaps to teh face before Summer gets a big kick.
Charlotte shuts that all down, and then Nattie takes advantage by tossing her rival. SUMMER RAE ELIMINATED. But Nattie’s celebration puts her in trouble, but Charlotte can’t take advantage.
Next in… Nikki Bella. A Bella ruenion in the ring. Nikki saves Brie from Bianca Belair, and then laps up the applause. Bianca powers back and now Brie makes the save. Then Brie and Nikki join forces for a power move on Belair.
Alicia Fox gives a fist bump from the outside., Silly. ALICA FOX ELIMINATED by both Bellas. Bellas working over Liv. Next in… Sarah Logan! A real shock return!
She ocmes to Liv’s aid and does some damage to both Bellas. She and Liv get emptional but the Bellas power back. SARAH LOGAN ELIMINATED by the Bellas. Angry Liv leaps at them and pays the price LIV MORGAN ELIMINATED.
Next in… Lita. You don’t get more legendary. The crowd are all on their feet. Lita is in, dodges Brie, Nikki B and Nikki ASH but Mickie isn’t standing on ceremony. Mickie ends up on the apron and DDT from Lita and MICKIE JAMES IS ELIMINATED.
Lita and Charlotte go face to face and exchange blows. Next in… Molly Holly! Cape and all. On the outside, Nikki ASH sprins a surprise attack, and gets the legend into the steps before putting her in the ring, and plonking her out MOLLY HOLLY ELIMINATED.
Next in… Ronda Rousey is BACK. Leather jacket and all. Charlotte Flair looks immediately warey. She takes no prisoners, MMA punches to Nikkia ASH. SHe almost gets Nikki and Brie out, but both t
NIKKI ASH ELIMINATED by Ronda Rousey. Nikki almost goes the same way and Brie Bella attempting to make the save almost knocks out her sister. some words are exhcnaged and then NIKKI BELLA ELIMINATED by her sister in a fit of pique.
Next in… Shotzi. She goes for Lita, but Lita powers out. Then BRIE BELLA ELIMINATED by Ronda Rousey. Ronda goes for Bianca Belair in the corner, but Reha Ripley gets herself involved. Next in… Shayna Baszler.
Baszler and Ronda Rosey exchange smiels and work in parallel. Baszler works over Lita. Then Charlotte makes a play for Baszler, before Flair goes for Rousey.
Rousey gets Flair over the top but she holds on. Shotzi foolishly gets involved and regrets it SHOTZI ELIMINATED by ROnda Rousey. And then finally NATALYA ELIMINATED by Bianca Belar.
Despite that, she returns to the ring and goes for Ronda! But She gets ELIMINATYED AGAIUB. Litta hits Charlotte with a Twiost of fate, but then Rhea goes striaght for Lita, Lita responds with hurrivcanrana off the top. then a Moonsault? No, Rhea gets there, and then LITA ELIMINATED witha. Charlotte big boot.
Rhea gets Ronda over the top but Ronda powers into a triange, Charlotte gets invovled and then Ronda goes headfirst into the ringpost but she’s still alive! RHEA RIPLEY ELIMINATED by Charlotte who, not for the first itme, over-celebrates somewhat. Bianca Belair almost takes advantage.
Then Baszler nearly eliminates Flair, but Belair makes the s save. Now Baszler gets Belair on the top, then Belair returns the favour. Charlotte gets involved and SHANYNA BASZLER ELIMINATED and BIANCA BELAIR ELIMINATED by Charlotte Flair.
Now it’s just Charlotte Flair and Ronda Rousey! They make space for each other and Rousey gees herself up. Charlotte goes for a big boot but Rousey catches her and CHARLOTTE FLAIR ELIMINATED by Ronda Rousey. Ronda Rousey is on her way to WrestleMania

WWE Raw Women’s Championship: Becky Lynch (c) vs Doudrop
Doudrup walks out as challenger with no little confidence, but NO-ONE can match the swagger of Becky Luynch who emerges (still) as champ. Big Time Becks hasn’t lost a title match in around three years, so no wonder she’s confident.
Doudrop not intimated though. Becky looking to get close but Doudrop gets the better of her. Becky slinks out the ring to get her bearings, befoer returning on five and using the beather to get in a couple of kics, but then Doudrop floings Bex off the top.
Becky dodges a drive into the ringpost, and escapes as Doudrop goes to the second rope. Doudrop kicks Lynch into the barricade and then gets the champ back into the ring.
Doudrop tries to power Becks into the steel steps, but Becky dodges and Doudrop eats the metal. SThe challenger gets back into the ring and now it’s all Becky. A slight rally from Doudrop but Becky has her in a sleepherhold!
Doudrop fading away ehre, but she eventually manages to get to her feet and bash Becky on the ringpost. But Doudrop wastes the opportunty with a failed drive and goes into the ringpost herself headfirst. Just a one for Becky though.
Becky trashtalking Doudrop and eats a big slap and couple of body slams, a big drop and gets a two count! Doudrop looks to build but Becky counters into a Dis-Arm-Her! Doudrop tries to power out but Becky twists it round.
Eventually Doudrop does power out and slams Becky down and gets 1, 2, thNO! Kick out! This time Doudrop does get Lynch into the corner, once, twice. Another cover, but Becky kicks out on two.
Doudrup goes to the second rope but Becky gets the knees up! She drags her way to the top. She flips and hits with a Molly-go-round and BANG! But Doudrop kicks out at two this time. Becky in control now.
Doudrop eventually gets some success with a sring of headbuts from the apron, but Lynch gets DD’s throat onto the rope. Doudrop counters with a handful of hair, but Becky gets a legdrop off the top rope onto Doudrop on the second rope!
Again though it’s only good for a two! Attempted manhandle slam but Doudrop counters with a slam of her own. Two and a half! SHe drags Lynch to the corner but Lynch gets up with her!
Panhandle slam off the second and one, two AND THREE.
WINNER and STILL WWE Raw Women’s Champion: Becky Lynch
WWE Championship: Brock Lesnar (c) vs Bobby Lashley
One of those classic WWE video packages giving this the big fight feel, before Lashley makes his way to the ring, followed by the champ. Plenty of pyro.
“Ladies and Gentlemen, my name is Paul Heyman, introducing tonight at 286 pounds. The Bobby-Bashing Beast, the Mauler of the Almighty, the reigning, defending ,undisputed WWE HEavyweight Champion of the world, BRRRROCK LESNAR.”
They lock up but no-one gets the upper hand. Eventually Lesnar gets the edge and gets in his first German Suplex of the night. Doesn’t seem to have bothered Lahsley much, though. But then Bobby responds with a German of his own!
Brock looks suprised, respectful even. Another German from Brock. And another. Lashley bleeding a little from the mouth but otherwise unharmed. Now some blows from Lashley connecting. Lesnar gets Lashley up fpran F-5, but Bobby wriggles out and gets Lesnar with a Spear! And another!
Lashley goes for a third on the outside, butBrock dodges and Lashley goes right through the barricade into the timekeeping area. Brock can’t take advantage, and flings brock into the ringpost. Brock again dodges Bobby on the inside and it’s Lashley’s turn to eat turnbuckle.
Another German from Brock. Another. They’re beginning to do some damage now. Another German. And yet another. He’s got an edge now. A smack on the back and yet another German Suplex.
He’s got him up for an F-5, but Bobby wriggles out and counters into a Hurt Lock! Brock Lesnar is suddenly in trouble! MVP cheering on his man from the outside, Brock goes even redder and looks like he’s fading away. Lesnar eventuaully somehow powers out, but knocks Lashley into the turnbuckle with the ref in the beginning.
Then he finally hits an F-5! But the referee is knocked out with it two. He’s got Bobby bang to rights and we’re counting as high as you like but it doesn’t matter if there’s no-one to do the three-count!
Lesnar looks bewildered. SPEAR FROM ROMAN REIGNS. From nowhere Reigns has snuck in and done some damage to The Beast. Then he makes eyes at Paul Heyman, who’s crading the WWE Championship. Heyman then hands over the strap to Roman!
Roman bides his time and then smacks Brock right in the face with the belt. He saunters out the ring and, true to form, Paul Heyman follows him
The ref comes to! Bobby Lashley springs to his feet! Makes the cover and one, two and THREE.
When Brock comes to he ain’t gonna be happy.
