She may be Madam Vice President to the world, but on Saturday Kamala Harris was just “Momala” to her stepdaughter.
Harris tweeted sweet congratulations to Ella Emhoff, the daughter of husband Doug Emhoff, to commemorate Ella’s Friday graduation from The New School’s Parsons School of Design in New York City.
“I am so proud of you,” Harris posted over a snap of the two women. “Keep dreaming with ambition and there is nothing you cannot achieve.
“Love, Momala.”
Harris and Emhoff made a quiet trip to New York Friday to watch the school’s virtual graduation ceremony with Ella, 21, who earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree.
The IMG model and budding fashion designer’s fascination with knitwear is evident in her thesis project — which features the blocky, intentionally childish chore coat she wore for her first magazine cover in February.
Her contribution to a virtual time capsule created by Parsons seniors includes an incomplete latch-hook rug that appears to simulate a breakfast platter.
“Ella communicates this moment in time,” IMG president Ivan Bart told the New York Times in January. “There’s a cheekiness and a joy she exudes.”
