As 2019 was coming to a close, the Young Bucks decided to take a break from the toxicity of Twitter. This decision came about after a heavily-criticized main event angle between the Dark Order and the Bucks on Dynamite, in tandem with AEW suffering its first ratings loss to NXT.
Following last night’s (Apr. 7) episode of Dynamite, the Young Bucks have indicated that they might be leaving Twitter again.
Please refrain from any negative or toxic comments in our mentions tonight. If so, we’ll unfortunately delete our Twitter account again. Thank you. Have a great night.

Last night’s main event on Dynamite featured an angle where the conflicted Young Bucks turned heel on Jon Moxley. Our reviewer at Cageside isn’t a fan of The Elite soap opera, though I don’t have a great sense yet for how it was received by the larger pro wrestling fandom. The Bucks’ tweet suggests that there is a lot of negative feedback.
But the tweet also clearly looks like a work to me. They just turned heel, and now the heels are telling fans to stop being so toxic and tweeting mean stuff at them. That’s how heels should do it, no?
This approach might make it less effective the next time the Young Bucks genuinely do need a break from a toxic social media platform, but for now, it looks to me like they are generating some buzz based on a past controversial situation, and attempting to blur the lines of kayfabe and reality in the process.
What do you think?
