Oscar and Emmy winner Tyler Perry announced Tuesday that he’s resurrecting his most famous character Mabel Earlene ‘Madea’ Simmons for a Netflix film streaming next year.
‘We need to laugh, man,’ the 51-year-old movie/TV mogul – who boasts 27.6M social media followers – explained in a video where he appears possessed by her.
‘Too much is going on in the country. We need to laugh, so I was done (but I wasn’t!), but she’s coming back.’

Tyler will write, produce, direct, and star in the 12th movie of the franchise A Madea Homecoming at his 330-acre Confederate Army base-turned-studio in Atlanta.
Perry built his billionaire fortune starring in 11 films and 11 plays as the 87-year-old grandmother-of-five, whom he masterminded as a ‘PG version’ of his mother and aunt back in 2009.
Back in 2018, the New Orleans-born showrunner announced on Bevy Smith’s SiriusXM show: ‘It’s time for me to kill that old b****. I’m tired, man! I’m tired. We gonna say goodbye in 2019.’

Perry will next voice a truck driver called Gus in Cal Brunker’s animated feature PAW Patrol: The Movie, which hits UK theaters August 13 and US theaters August 20.
‘I did this for my son and all our kids!’ the Those Who Wish Me Dead actor tweeted last Thursday.
