Utah continues to see its daily coronavirus numbers increase with 1,354 new cases reported on Saturday, according to the Utah Department of Health.
That brings the total number of Utahns with COVID-19 to 84,644.
The state’s death toll also rose to 510, with five more deaths reported since Friday. They include:
• A Salt Lake County man, between 65-84.
• A Salt Lake County man older than 85.
• A man from Southeast Utah, between 65-84.
• A Washington County woman, 65-84.
• A Utah County man, older than 85
The number of people currently hospitalized with COVID-19, dropped slightly to 231 — down from Friday’s total of 243, the department reported. More than 70% of the state’s ICU beds are occupied.
More Utahns are getting tested. On Saturday, the UDOH reported 11,846 new tests — a single day record. Since the pandemic began, 912,894 people in Utah have been tested.
Utah’s seven-day average for positive tests was 1,187 or 13.7%.
Salt Lake County reported 601 new cases on Saturday while Utah County added 323 and Davis County saw an additional 110. Both Weber-Morgan and the Southwest Health Departments reported 76 new cases each.
Students and teachers continue to be affected with 108 new school-related cases reported on Saturday. Overall 2,643 Utah students and 484 teachers have contracted the virus.
There are 62,401 “recovered” cases in the state.
