Steve Martin revealed Sunday on Twitter that he had received the COVID-19 vaccine, calling the overall process “smooth as silk.”
“Good news/Bad news. Good news: I just got vaccinated! Bad news: I got it because I’m 75. Ha!” Martin told his 8.7 million followers.
“The operation in NYC was smooth as silk (sorry about the cliché @BCDreyer!) and hosted to perfection by the US Army and National Guard. Thank you all, and thank you science,” the actor continued.
When pressed by a fan about how he received the vaccine, as they had trouble obtaining one for an older relative, Martin said he signed up online and waited in line, too.
“I signed up ON line through an NYC dot gov website (sorry I don’t have the exact site), and waited IN line at the Javits Center,” Martin explained.
He later wrote, “Right now, I’m having no fide resects.”
Some side effects have been linked to COVID-19 vaccines, according to the CDC, including pain and swelling on the arm where a patient received a shot.
Martin isn’t the only star who was recently vaccinated in New York. Last week, Martha Stewart confirmed she had received the COVID-19 vaccine, and documented the moment on social media.
“I was vaccinated today in a designated vaccine pod near the Martha Stewart Center for Living at Mount Sinai Downtown,” the 79-year-old posted to Instagram at the time.
Like Martin, Stewart also waited in line.
“To allay your concerns that I jumped the line know that I am in the approved age group for this batch of vaccines and I waited in line with others,” Stewart said.
