Jean-Luc Picard is back in the first trailer for Star Trek: Picard season 2. The trailer debuted during the Picard panel at Paramount’s Star Trek Day celebration. During the panel the cast also announced that the show has been renewed for a third season.
The trailer for Picard’s new season starts out with a rare appearance from Q, who decides to send Picard and his crewmates to an alternate timleine. In this new reality it seems that Captain Picard is part of a totalitarian regime that rules over the universe. Of course, that doesn’t sit too well with our-reality’s version of Jean-Luc, so he and the crew decide to find a way to save the world from this new future … by going back to the past. This involves hijacking none other than the Borg Queen, once again played by Annie Wersching.
After a complicated (and dangerous looking) time travel process, Picard and his crew travel back to the Earth of the 21st century in order to save the future. From there, the trailer cuts to a variety of dramatic and action packed scenes, but even the small moments of Picard occupying a world that’s close to ours should prove exciting.
Star Trek: Picard season 2 will kick off in February 2022, and while we know that there will be a season 3, there’s no telling when that might begin.
