Spider-Man brings back classic villains in new No Way Home trailer – New York Post

Gonna be hard to catch these bad guys “just like flies.”

Sony Pictures just dropped the latest trailer for “Spider-Man: No Way Home,” which will reportedly feature a murderer’s row of classic villains from before the Marvel Cinematic Universe was created.

“They’re starting to come through, I can’t stop them,” intones Dr. Strange (played by Benedict Cumberbatch) in the epic three-minute preview for the flick, which hits theaters on Dec. 17.

As depicted in the now-viral trailer with nearly 25 million views overnight, “No Way Home” picks up the baton from the previous Marvel film, in which the identity of Spider-Man (Tom Holland) is revealed. This prompts the web-slinger to seek the aid of Dr. Strange, who casts a spell a la the neuralizer from “Men in Black” to make people forget who he is.

Unfortunately, thanks to a multiverse mishap, a murderer’s row of rogues from past Spider-Man franchises appear, including Willem Dafoe’s scenery-gobbling Green Goblin from “Spider-Man” and “Spider-Man 2’s” Dr. Otto “Doc Ock” Octavius, played by Alfred Molina.

Also reprising their nemesis role is the zap-happy baddie Electro (Jamie Foxx) from “The Amazing Spider-Man 2,” Thomas Haden Church’s Sandman from “Spider-Man 3,” and Rhys Ifans’ the Lizard from 2012’s “The Amazing Spider-Man.”

Along with the aforementioned actors, “Spider-Man: No Way Home” will also feature Zendaya, Jacob Batalon, Jon Favreau and Marisa Tomei. Jon Watts will be in the director’s chair once again.

Holland previously said that the flick would be the “end” of the current franchise.

The Green Goblin
Perhaps the most-anticipated villain to return is Willem Dafoe’s Green Goblin.
