Sacha Baron Cohen is thought to have been behind a stunt at a conservative rally in Olympia, Washington.
The actor, 48, is said to have gotten attendees to sing about the “Wuhan flu” whilst disguised as a country singer at the right-wing March for Our Rights 3 rally.
In footage from the event, the character on stage – thought to be the Borat actor – is seen wearing a straw hat and denim dungarees and his face was also covered in fake facial hair.
The song he sang on stage contained lyrics about how they should “chop” journalists up “like the Saudis do” in referencing the death of Jamal Khashoggi in 2018 and referred to Chinese people as “sushi-eaters.”
Other lyrics the prankster sang included: “Dr Fauci, what we gonna do? Inject him with the Wuhan flu… Hillary Clinton, what we gonna do? Lock her up like we used to do.”
In the video the audience are heard cheering and clapping as they sing along.
It is thought that the epic prank was for his TV show Who Is America but that is yet to be confirmed.
A local counsellor named James Connor Blair took to Twitter after the show to tell that the Ali G star’s security “blocked event organisers from getting him off the stage or pulling power from the generator.”
He blasted the song as “racist and “hateful” and claimed that the crowd members who joined in “DO NOT represent the event, it’s organisers, or the vast majority of those who attended.”
The councilman also claimed the crowd turned on Sacha and security whisked him away in a waiting ambulance.
The rally was reportedly organized by the Washington Three Percenters.
The reference to 3 percent is an unsubstantiated claim only 3% of the members of the American colonies fought in the War of Independence, according to TMZ.
Mirror Online have contacted a rep for Sacha for comment.
