Police: DaniLeigh, mother of DaBaby’s child, facing assault charges – WSOC Charlotte

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Charlotte-Mecklenburg police said that singer Danielle Curiel, also known as DaniLeigh, is facing assault charges.

Just before midnight on Sunday, officers were called for reports of a domestic assault in uptown. Rapper and Charlotte native Jonathan Kirk, whose stage name is DaBaby, posted to Instagram Live alerting fans that he was calling police.

“Man, y’all come get her,” he said on Instagram Live.

DaBaby told police that DaniLeigh had assaulted him.

CMPD told DaBaby to go to the magistrate’s office to pursue charges.

On Monday morning, officers were called to the same location for reports of a disturbance. DaBaby told officers that DaniLeigh had assaulted him again.

Channel 9 was there Monday afternoon and captured the scene outside an apartment complex of a woman who appeared to be DaniLeigh talking to police.

After police investigated, DaniLeigh now faces two counts of simple assault for the incidents on Sunday and Monday.

On DaniLeigh’s Instagram Story, she documents a relationship between the two artists and that they share a baby girl.

The dispute between the two seems to have played out over the past 48 hours. DaniLeigh’s posts claim that DaBaby told her to get out. DaBaby’s post said he has video of her beating on him — evidence that he said he will not post on social media.

“I am a father. That’s the only reason why she is around me,” DaBaby said in his Instagram Live. “If anything else is going to come to light it will come to light. I’m not participating in none of the foolery, man.”

In one of DaBaby’s latest Instagram posts, he posted a statement saying he’s focused on his new music project, and that he “does not want to press charges” and that he just wanted DaniLeigh to be peacefully removed.

No other details have been released at this point.
