With Downtown Disney District opening to the public on July 9th, there has been much to follow. Today, we made our way back to take see if things have settled at the Disneyland Resort. Join us in taking a look at the temperature screenings, virtual queues, parking lines, views from the Esplanade, and more.
Downtown Disney Parking
Today, we got to Disneyland Resort around 5:00 pm. All parking was directed to the Simba Parking lot. Cars sat stalled for a moment as capacity was very high already. This has been a problem since opening a few days ago.
Parking was complimentary.
Temperature Screenings
The Disneyland Hotel entrance from Downtown Disney is currently blocked off with “temporarily closed” signage.
We walked to the entrance near the Disneyland Hotel on the west end of Downtown Disney to get our temperatures checked. Markers have been placed on the ground near the tents to keep a safe distance between guests waiting in line.
It is asked that parties stay together as they are approaching the screening area.
We made it in with no problems! This was a very orderly and easy process.
Downtown Disney
Earl of Sandwich had many people eating out on the patio when we entered around 5:30 pm. Social distancing markers have been placed on the ground.
Guests were utilizing the hand washing stations that have been placed around Downtown Disney.
Guests are able to get back to pin hunting at Pin Traders!
A COVID-19 general checklist for retail employees has been hung directly outside the entrance.
Belle and the Beast are loving the new social distancing markers in front of the LEGO Store.
The LEGO Store has a virtual queue that they have been utilizing to help minimize people waiting in line.
Sugarboo & Co followed suit with the same markers.
Capacity has been limited to 6 guests at a time.
The Starbucks on the west end of Downtown Disney now has an outdoor Mobile Order Pickup station to reduce indoor traffic.
Tortilla Jo’s did not open with Downtown Disney, although an “Opening Soon” sign sits outside the entrance.
Ralph Brennan’s Jazz Kitchen has also not opened yet.
At 5:30 pm, World of Disney had a virtual queue that was a 3-hour wait.
This line that wraps around this building is what you enter after the virtual queue.
The Esplanade
It was nice to be back in the Esplanade today. Seeing guests walk between the gates of Disneyland and Disney California Adventure today reminded us of a quiet day of park operations.
Two new posters can be seen hanging from the sides of the ticket booths in the Esplanade. Muppets Now is set to premiere on July 31, 2020, on Disney+.
The second poster is advertising the original Broadway production of Hamilton, the recent musical addition to Disney+.
Peeking over the entrance of Disney California Adventure, we were able to see Guardians of the Galaxy: Mission Breakout. Notice anything else?
Another new Hamilton poster can be seen right over the entrance.
Plexiglass has been added to the gates of California Adventure.
Sadly, you cannot walk up to the gates of Disneyland right now.
That’s all for this visit! Will you be visiting soon? Make sure to check back, and follow us on social media via Instagram and Twitter.
