Onondaga County Covid-19 update: 72 new cases, two more deaths – syracuse.com

Onondaga County reported 72 new cases of Covid-19 today, along with two deaths.

County Executive Ryan McMahon said there are currently 72 individuals in hospitals across the county, with 12 in the ICU.

“Sadly, we lost two neighbors, a male 61, and a resident of a senior facility,” he said.

Saturday, McMahon said nine people were in intensive care in area hospitals because of Covid-19, the lowest level since Nov. 18, according to Onondaga County data. He also reported another death.

To date, the county has surpassed more than 31,000 Covid-19 cases since the pandemic began, according to the latest county data.

That means about 1 in 15 people in the county have tested positive for the coronavirus during the past 11 months.

Since the pandemic began, 657 people have died and 31,104 cases have been confirmed, according to the county.
