Cases of the omicron variant continue to soar across the country. With the rising case numbers, experts are speaking out about what COVID-19 symptoms you’ll see.
Dr. Suneet Singh, the medical director of CareHive Health in Austin, Texas., told Yahoo! the omicron variant symptoms are much different than what we saw before with the original strain of the coronavirus.
The top three omicron variant symptoms to look for are:
- Runny nose.
- Stuffy nose.
- Sore throat.
Quote: “Omicron, (meanwhile), is less likely to invade the lungs. Instead, omicron is causing more upper respiratory symptoms,” Singh said.
Flashback: Dr. Robert Quigley, the senior vice president and global medical director for International SOS, a leading medical and security services company, told me that COVID-19 patients infected by omicron “tend to show symptoms much quicker than that seen with other variants.”
- “For the majority of individuals who are vaccinated and boosted and have contracted the omicron variant, they have experienced mild symptoms consistent with an upper respiratory tract infection,” he said.
Quigley said the top three COVID-19 symptoms he’s seen from omicron patients include:
- Cough.
- Fatigue.
- Congestion.
The bottom line: Omicron variant symptoms look different than traditional COVID-19 symptoms, creating uncertainty about who is getting tested for COVID-19 and who it is affecting.
