Oliver Hudson is opening up about a time he got arrested when he was just 16 years old, and how Kurt Russell reacted to it.
The 45-year-old actor was his mother Goldie Hawn’s first child with actor Bill Hudson, followed by sister Kate Hudson, though he was raised by Hawn and Russell, who started dating when he was just six years old.
Hudson was promoting his new Fox TV series The Cleaning Lady on Live With Kelly and Ryan on Wednesday, when he spoke about his arrest as a teen, and Russell’s reaction.

‘I did get arrested when I was 16 years old. It was a crazy story ’cause they had to call the parents,’ Hudson began.
‘They said, “What’s your dad’s name?” and I said, “Oh my God. Kurt Russell,”‘ Hudson added with a laugh.
‘They’re like, “No, kid, what’s your dad’s name?” And I said, “It’s Kurt Russell.” They started fighting over who was gonna make the phone call. It was crazy,” he joked.

Dad’s name: ‘They said, “What’s your dad’s name?” and I said, “Oh my God. Kurt Russell,”‘ Hudson added with a laugh
Ripa asked the actor how Russell, 70, reacted to that phone call, asking if he is, ‘upset or is he understanding? Is he the Kurt I fantasize that he is?’
‘Yes, he is. He is. Look, we were stupid. We had paintball guns. We were doing dumb things, as kids do,’ Hudson said.
‘He understood what it was like for him when he was the age; he did stupid stuff as well. But he was not a happy dad, let’s just say that,’ Hudson said.
Upset: Ripa asked the actor how Russell, 70, reacted to that phone call, asking if he is, ‘upset or is he understanding? Is he the Kurt I fantasize that he is?’
Paintball: ‘Yes, he is. He is. Look, we were stupid. We had paintball guns. We were doing dumb things, as kids do,’ Hudson said
Understood: ‘He understood what it was like for him when he was the age; he did stupid stuff as well. But he was not a happy dad, let’s just say that,’ Hudson said
The actor offered more details on the arrest during a 2018 appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live!, where he said him and his friends were shooting paintball guns at adults when the cops were called and they were arrested.
He also revealed that Russell had quite the unique punishment for him after the incident.
“My punishment was to shoot up my Honda Prelude with blue leather interior. I had to shoot up my car, dent it up, and drive that for the rest of my existence,’ Hudson said.

‘His philosophy is, I know what I did was wrong, right? So why ground me? So at point-blank range you’re going to destroy your car and you’re going to have to drive it for the rest of however long you own this car,’ Hudson said.
