OKC-County Health Dept. partners with OCCC, hospitals to offer 5,000 vaccine doses to residents 65+ – KOCO Oklahoma City

Officials with the Oklahoma City-County Health Department announced they are partnering with the county’s four large hospital systems and Oklahoma City Community College to administer 5,000 doses of the COVID-19 vaccine to residents 65 years old and older. According to officials, on Thursday, 3,700 doses will be administered at several locations in Oklahoma City. OU Health is administering vaccine at the Embassy Suites hotel on its campus. In addition, vaccine is being administered at OCCC, Integris’s Portland campus, Mercy’s Meinders Neuroscience Institute and three SSM St. Anthony Healthplexes.Vaccinations will continue Friday at three SSM St. Anthony’s Healthplex locations and the clinic at Embassy Suites, operated by OU Health, officials said. On Saturday, SSM Health St. Anthony’s is also vaccinating residents at two locations.Residents can register for these clinics through the state’s vaccination portal. Appointments must be made in order to get a vaccination. OCCHD put its appointments into the system on Monday and as of Tuesday afternoon, all appointments this week are full, according to officials. While all the locations were put into the state’s scheduling portal, the OCCC site has a long walk from the parking lot to the vaccination area. The location could present challenges for people with limited mobility, OCCHD officials said. Patients can bring one caregiver to any of the appointment sites.OCCHD will put more appointments into the state’s scheduling system once the events are planned.
