We had our second improvised finish on a major wrestling show this week, as the World Title Eliminator match on AEW Dynamite had a different ending planned. On tonight’s Dynamite, PAC and Orange Cassidy faced off in a match to determine Kenny Omega’s opponent at Double or Nothing.
As noted, the match ended in a no contest/double countout when Cassidy got hurt from a Liger bomb by PAC and Kenny Omega hit PAC with the World Title. The Double or Nothing match was then announced to be a triple threat match.
According to PWInsider, the original plan was to go to a 20 minute draw that would have resulted in the same result for the PPV. When Cassidy went down, the decision was made on the fly to have Cassidy stay down and they declared the no contest to set up the three-way.
As noted on Monday, Humberto Carrillo’s match with Sheamus on Raw ended in an improvised ending after Sheamus landed on Carrillo’s leg during a sunset flip powerbomb. Carrillo was said to be okay after the match.
