LAVISTA. WE’RE SETTING NEW HIGHS IN EVERY WAY WE TRACK COVID-19 IN THE AREA. ALEXANDRA: 281 PEOPLE ARE HOSPITALIZED IN THE IMMEDIATE REGION. THERE ARE 95 PATIENTS IN INTENSIVE CARE. 83% OF ICU BEDS ARE FULL. THE DOUGLAS COUNTY HEALTH DEPARTMENT SAYS THERE ARE 25 PEOPLE WITH COVID-19 WHO ARE ON VENTILATORS IN THE REGION. THAT, TOO, IS A HIGH POINT SINCE WE STARTED TRACKING THE DATA IN MARCH, AND UP BY SEVEN CASES IN THE LAST WEEK. DAVID: THE POSITIVITY RATE IN DOUGLAS COUNTY IS RUNNING HIGHER THAN 21%. THAT’S THE HIGHEST SINCE THE PANDEMIC BEGAN. THE OMAHA POLICE DEPARTMENT CONFIRMED 23 CASES OF COVID-19 AMONG OFFICERS. 12 OF THEM REPORTED IN THE LAST WEEK. THE HEALTH DEPARTMENT TODAY REPORTED 281 NEW, KNOWN CASE WE HAVE ALSO LEARNED OF AN ADDITIONAL DEATH, A MAN IN HIS 60’S. AND JUST IN FROM THE NEBRASKA DISTRICT COURT, ALL JURY TRIALS SCHEDULED BEFORE DECEMBER 1 ARE CONTINUED DUE TO INCREASING COVID-19 CASES ALEXANDRA: PAGE COUNTY, IOWA REPORTS ITS FIRST COVID-RELATED DEATH. THAT’S ONE OF MORE THAN 1700 ACROSS THE STATE. THE OVERALL POSITIVITY RATE IN IOWA IS RUNNING OVER 13%. WITH MORE THAN 800 NEW CASES REPORTED SINCE MONDAY. DAVID: 730 PEOPLE WITH THE VIRUS ARE IN THE HOSPITAL, ANOTHER RECORD HIGH. THERE ARE ABOUT 37% OF BEDS AVAILABLE. — AVAILABLE IN IOWA. A new case of Multisystem Inflammatory Syndrome in Children (MIS-C) has been confirmed in Douglas County, health officials announced on Wednesday. Two cases were reported in June and a third is now at Children’s Hospital after being admitted Nov. 1. The patient is under 10 years old, tested positive for COVID-19 antibodies, and has no comorbidities. Many children recover from MIS-C with medical treatment.MIS-C can cause an inflammation in a range of body parts and vital organs. The precise cause of MIS-C hasn’t been confirmed, but many children with the condition had been infected by or were in contact with a confirmed COVID-19 case.
