Mandalorian season 2: What time episodes release and full watch schedule – Polygon

Last October, The Mandalorian became an overnight phenomenon, launching Disney Plus to necessary, zeitgeist-worthy heights. But the show also arrived in a cloud of confusion: Between people thinking Pedro Pascal’s character was a version of Boba Fett, those who couldn’t tell the Star Wars TV series from Rise of Skywalker, and those who wondered why Yoda was now a baby, the actual content took some time to connect with the masses. And then there was the schedule and timing — due to Episode IX’s release in December 2019, the rollout was downright wacky.

The Mandalorian season 2 won’t face the same problems. With basically no major releases in its way, due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, Lucasfilm and Disney Plus will be able to release the second season of the Star Wars live-action series without interruption. (Unless the upcoming-but-unannounced WandaVision release date in December forces a last-minute change.) Here’s what to know about this season, as we brace for the premiere on Oct. 30.

What time does The Mandalorian season 2 premiere hit Disney Plus?

Unlike network television premieres, Netflix, Disney Plus, and the rest of the streamers leave audiences in constant question of when their new shows actually arrive on the platform. According to Disney Plus sources, new episodes of The Mandalorian are expected to premiere on the service every Friday “shortly after” 12 a.m. PST.

The Mandalorian season 2 release schedule

Unlike season 1, which saw episodes popping up at random intervals, season 2 is taking a traditional structure on Fridays. Here are official dates listed by Disney Plus:

  • The Mandalorian season 2 episode 1: Oct. 30
  • The Mandalorian season 2 episode 2: Nov. 6
  • The Mandalorian season 2 episode 3: Nov. 13
  • The Mandalorian season 2 episode 4: Nov. 20
  • The Mandalorian season 2 episode 5: Nov. 27
  • The Mandalorian season 2 episode 6: Dec. 4
  • The Mandalorian season 2 episode 7: Dec. 11
  • The Mandalorian season 2 episode 8: Dec. 18

What happened at the end of The Mandalorian season 1

If you forgot that The Mandalorian is premiering this month — as if there was anything else major going on in the world right now — you may have also forgotten to refresh yourself on what the heck happened last time. We all endured an entire discourse cycle on The Rise of Skywalker since then, so, all is forgiven.

Last season, Mando (Pascal) and The Child (Baby Yoda doll) narrowly escaped Imperial Agent Moff Gideon (Giancarlo Esposito), thanks to some help from Cara Dune (Gina Carano), Greef Karga (Carl Weathers), and a bounty droid called IG-11 (voiced by Taika Waititi). But while Moff Gideon was momentary thwarted, he was revealed to be in possession of the Darksaber, and likely to still be on the trail of the bounty hunter. Last we saw Mando, he was jetting back out into space to solve the mystery of his new companion.

The Star Wars Clone Wars and Rebel episodes to watch before Mandalorian

If you do find yourself with a few free hours before the premiere, consider going back to some non-Mandalorian-related TV episodes. With rumors swirling that Rosario Dawson may appear as Ahsoka Tano, Katee Sackhoff as Bo-Katan Kryze, and Timothy Olyphant as none other than Boba Fett, we recently looked back at the best episodes of Star Wars television to watch before Mandalorian season 2 kicks off. Here are three Clone Wars episodes to get you started — they’re all also streaming on Disney Plus:

  • “Eminence” (season 5 episode 14)
  • “Shades of Reason” (season 5 episode 15)
  • “The Lawless” (season 5 episode 16)
