Leicester may face a new local lockdown after a surge of coronavirus cases in the city. It comes as a leading scientist advising the government has warned that the UK is “on a knife edge” with a rise in cases expected in the coming weeks.
Professor Sir Jeremy Farrar, who’s a member of the government’s SAGE advisory committee, also told the BBC, he expects a second wave of infections in the winter.
