Kim Zolciak has revealed that her eight-year-old son Kash recently underwent facial reconstructive surgery for injuries sustained after the family dog bit his face three years ago.
The 42-year-old reality star took to her Instagram on Thursday morning to share a gallery of images and video as she made the revelation about her third youngest’s procedure due to the canine attack back in April 2017.
The mother of six kept mum on the surgery until it was deemed a success as she wrote a lengthy caption which began: ‘I waited to share this story until my baby was healed! Kash is such a trooper the toughest, bravest little boy I have ever met. Last month Kash had reconstructive surgery from the dog bite 3 years ago.

‘Bravest little boy I have ever met’: The 42-year-old reality star took to her Instagram on Thursday morning to share a gallery of images and video along with a lengthy caption as she made the revelation about her third youngest’s procedure due to the canine attack
‘We knew the night of the bite/surgery that he most likely would need another surgery in the future to correct the injury. It was pretty severe and due to the severity of the swelling that night our plastic surgeon Dr Joseph Williams (the best) did the very best he could.’
She went on to explain that the procedure had brought back a lot of bad memories from when one of the family dog’s, Sinn, attacked their son.
Zolciak said: ‘I’ll never forget that day as long as I live and as much as we thought we “put it in the back of our minds” when Kash came out of surgery this time it hit Kroy and I pretty hard. Not only us but Kash and KJ as well.’

The reality star said the family ‘had a rough couple days’ and that she and her 35-year-old former NFL player husband Kroy Biermann had cried several times alongside their son.
As only one parent could be in the room for the surgery, the former defensive end was there by Kash’s side through the procedure.
However all the emotions seemed to rush back for Kim when her husband and son hopped in the car after the surgery as she wrote: ‘But when Kash/Kroy came out and sat in the backseat with Kash on his lap and tears streamed down both their faces, I could barely breathe.
‘My heart was broken that we even had to go through all this again.’
Notorious: Kim said that she relied on a lot of close friends to help the family go through the trauma again including personal trainer Michael Giovanni Rivera who she asked to get in contact with Kash’s all-time favorite fighter Conor McGregor to send a message of encouragement

In the short clip Conor gave words of encouragement and also promoted his January 23, 2021 fight against Dustin Poirier as he said: ‘Kash, what’s up my man? The Notorious Conor McGregor here.
‘Just wanted to give you a quick shoutout, I heard you had a match with a dog and you won. So congratulations on your victory, I plan on securing my own victory January 23rd.
‘I’m here now isolated away, getting my work in, taking inspiration from you and your victory Kash. Alright, thank you so much and congratulations on the win. My man, let’s go Kash!’
Close call: The dog’s attack on Kash occurred April 23, 2017 leaving the child having to undergo hours of surgery, and his family in tatters
No doubt the young boy was thrilled by the video but Kim was also taken aback by the gesture.
She wrote: ‘Conor’s video had me in tears I could barely speak, I mean it’s CONOR MCGREGOR but it was also his MESSAGE Their are no express my gratitude 2 not only Gio, but Conor, my supportive husband, our surgeon, my family & friends.’
The Don’t Be Tardy star even said that three days after the surgery and just eight hours after reaching out to her close friends, things began to look up.
Zolciak wrote: ‘Not even kidding 8hrs after my post on my close friends, Kash woke up, (we had to sleep together for weeks so we could keep him elevated all night) he looked right into my eyes and said , “Mom I feel great!” I knew we were on the road to recovery.’

Kash had been playing with the dog while his NFL star dad worked nearby with a leaf blower when the unprovoked attack occurred.
The dog’s bite had missed the boy’s eye by millimeters.
Zolciak went on to chronicle the boy’s recovery on her social media, revealing on Instagram that she and Biermann ‘felt it was super important to continue to encourage Kash to be around animals’ and didn’t want him to internalize any fear over the incident.
Kim was overcome with emotion as she opened up about the moment in the confessional during an episode of Don’t Be Tardy which aired in December of that year.

‘We all really love Sinn, but Kash really, really loves Sinn, and that’s really the only reason why we’re bringing Sinn back,’ she said. ‘I’m just really glad that we’re both on the same page. I know this has been a really tough decision for both of us.’
Her former Atlanta Falcons linebacker husband said that if the family ultimately does not feel comfortable with the dog that attacked their son then they have no problem getting rid of it.
The couple fought back tears as Kroy said: ‘I would be proud of Kash no matter what he did, but I am very taken back with how he has reacted — just who he is as a person. Unfortunately, this was a very bad accident, but it gave us a view into Kash’s little heart and into his little mind. He’s a pretty cool dude.’
The couple share four kids together: Kaia, seven, Kane, seven, Kash, and Kroy Jr, nine, while Kroy also adopted Kim’s daughters Brielle and Ariana from previous relationships.
Happy ending: Kash is shown playing with the dog who attacked him, named Sinn, months after the incident
