Iowa reports 100 additional COVID-19 deaths
The Iowa Department of Public Health on Wednesday reported 100 additional COVID-19 deaths, bringing the total to 6,848 since the start of the pandemic.The health department reports the additional 100 deaths happened between Aug. 17 and Oct. 13. IDPH reports 6,485 positive tests in the last seven days, down from 6,812 at the last report on Monday. The state’s positivity rate declined from 8.6% to 8.3% since Monday.COVID-19 hospitalizations also continue to decline slightly. There are currently 557 patients hospitalized with the virus, down from 562 at the last report.Of those hospitalized with COVID-19, 77.2% are unvaccinated, while 79.6 of those listed in intensive care are unvaccinated.The state reports 25 long-term care facility outbreaks, down from 26 on Monday. There have been 3,600,671 vaccine doses administered in Iowa, with 67.2% of Iowans 18 and older fully vaccinated.
