Former first lady Michelle Obama is hosting a day-long National Voter Registration Day Instagram takeover on Tuesday (Sept. 22) that will feature appearances from Jennifer Lopez, Zendaya, DJ Khaled, H.E.R., Jeezy, DJ D Nice and many more.
The “Get Registered & Ready” livestream — Obama’s first-ever live Instagram live event — is a collaboration with When We All Vote and it will have the artists and activists dipping in from 11 a.m. ET until 6:30 p.m to spread the word about the importance of registering to vote for the pivotal Nov. 3 presidential election.
The action kicked off in the morning with Lopez, who was followed by Emmy winner Zendaya and a live set from DJ Envy, as well as a chat with Khaled and Fat Joe. The live takeover is just one of hundreds of events taking place on Tuesday in a massive effort to make sure Americans know where and when they can register to vote in the upcoming election.
Because of the pandemic — as well as confusing and often erroneous information spread by President Donald Trump about mail-in and early voting — efforts to ensure that everyone who is eligible has registered to vote and has as much correct information as possible to cast their ballot is more important than ever this year.
