Hayley Williams performed one lucky fan’s ideal Björk cover yesterday (July 15), and artists from Maggie Rogers to Lauren Jauregui praised her acoustic version.
“Someone asked me to do a @bjork song a while back. i’d actually hoped to cover a different song of hers live this year but i guess that will have to wait until some other time,” the Paramore lead singer wrote on social media with a two-minute black-and-white video. “anyway, this one has to be in my top 5 – ‘Unison’. apologies for the crudely casual rendition.”
But the tender acoustic lullaby wasn’t putting the fan who requested it to bed anytime soon, as she replied to Williams’ Twitter clip, “IT WAS ME I ASKED OMG THANK YOU I LOVE IT UNISON OMG VESPERTINE RIGHTS.”
Rogers, Jauregui, and more musicians commented on her Instagram video of the same performance about how much they loved it — even if it was a little too much. The “Alaska” singer wrote “this ended me” before the Petals For Armor artist cheekily responded, “dont be ended we need u!” and Rogers issued the correction, “****this made my morning !!!!!” Stacy King of the indie-pop band Sucré fan-girled with Williams about Björk, who hasn’t released a new album since 2017.
