‘Feeling good as hell’: Boston Medical Center staff celebrate vaccine shipment in jubilant dance video – Boston.com

It’s been a hard year for health care workers, so when Boston Medical Center received its first shipment of the coronavirus vaccine, it provided a rare moment of joyful catharsis.

Donning masks, face shields, and medical gowns, staff at BMC celebrated the delivery by dancing on the sidewalk to Lizzo’s “Good as Hell,” the energetic and uplifting anthem that became a sleeper hit in the pre-pandemic days.

A clip of the staff dancing was shared on Twitter by BMC president Kate Walsh from the center’s new TikTok account.

“Why I love my job [at Boston Medical Center]!” Walsh wrote.

Boston Medical Center received 1,950 doses of the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine Monday and plans to start giving shots to staffers on Wednesday. One thousand employees are set to get the shot by the end of the week, and other area hospitals are expecting shipments to come on Tuesday.

Front-line health care workers directly treating COVID-19 will have top priority in getting the shot during Phase 1 of Massachusetts’ rollout. Other health care workers can get the vaccine later in Phase 1.
