EAST PROVIDENCE — East Providence High School was closed Tuesday due to positive coronavirus cases.
Supt. Kathy Crowley said the high school moved to remote learning Tuesday after a positive case of the coronavirus was reported Monday.
She would not confirm whether the test positive case was a student or staff person. .
The extra day will give the state Department of Health the opportunity to conduct contact tracing to see who, if anyone, needs to quarantine.

Classes at the high school are expected to resume in person Wednesday.
Additionally, the seventh grade at Martin Middle School has transitioned to remote learning because nine teachers have been directed to quarantine due to proximity to a positive case of the virus. The rest of the school remains open.
