Different delta variant symptoms: What are the new symptoms? – Deseret News

The delta variant continues to surge through the United States, and one expert now suggests there might be different delta variant symptoms.

Are there different delta variant symptoms?

Dr. George Monks, a physician and volunteer teacher the University of Oklahoma, said on social media that he has noticed the delta variant has different symptoms compared to traditional COVID-19.

  • “The delta variant has slightly different symptoms compared to the original virus,” he wrote on Twitter. “You may not get the loss of taste (and) smell. The delta variant could cause issues like a cough, shortness of breath, a fever, body aches, congestion, and more. Please get tested if you have these.”

Monks said people who experience any COVID-19 symptoms should get tested.

Monk said it’s important for people who are worried over the coronavirus to mask up. It’s the easiest way to stay safe if you’re worried and fully vaccinated, he said.

  • “If you are still hesitant or have some questions about the Covid vaccine, please talk to your physician. The Covid vaccine is safe and very effective at keeping you out of the hospital and keeping you alive. Getting Covid is risky,” Monks wrote.

Are there symptoms for fully vaccinated people?

Dr. David Priest, an infectious disease specialist with Novant Health, told WRIC in Virginia that COVID-19 patients — especially fully vaccinated Americans — experience “vague symptoms” when it comes to the coronavirus.

  • Those vague symptoms include a sore throat and a runny nose.
