She’s turning 50 shades of red thanks to her mom.
Dakota Johnson admitted she gets totally embarrassed when Melanie Griffith shares childhood photos of her on social media.
“I don’t like it, but I also don’t go on social media, so I don’t find out about it until it’s really baked into the internet, and somebody will send it to me like, ‘Oh, you were so ugly’ or ‘You were so cute when you had braces and a slicked-back ponytail,’” Johnson, 32, said on “The Late Late Show with James Corden” Thursday.
She added, “I become like a 12-year-old and I’m like, ‘Mom, you can’t do that. We’ve had this conversation so many times!’”
But the “How to Be Single” star, who does not have an Instagram account, said Griffith, 64, simply “doesn’t care.”
And sharing awkward teen photos isn’t the only way Griffith humiliates her daughter.
“My mom is the most amazing person, but she embarrasses me in front of a lot of people,” Johnson said.
The “Fifty Shades of Grey” star recalled one traumatizing moment in particular when her mom humiliated her in front of her childhood crush, Jonathan Taylor Thomas, when she spotted him at the airport.
“I was like, ‘Oh my God, Mom’ — I think I was 8 — ‘Oh my god, Mom, it’s him, it’s really him!’ I was like, ‘We’re gonna be married. We’re gonna be together forever. … We’re the same. We love each other,’” Johnson said.
But she was completely mortified when Griffith proceeded to call Thomas over, forcing Johnson to hide in shame.
“I was across the airport behind a plant,” she remembered, adding that she tried “to be invisible.”
“It was obvious. I was very visible. I couldn’t hide behind the plant. … It wasn’t, like, a tree.”
Griffith shares Johnson with first husband Don Johnson.
The “Working Girl” star also has son Alexander, 36, with second husband Steven Bauer and daughter Stella, 25, with third husband Antonio Banderas.
