THE ORDER GOVERNOR RON DESANTIS PASSED LAST WEEK DECLARED THE SENIOR POPULATION AS THE NEXT PRIORITY GROUP, SO NOW COUNTY LEADERS IN CENTRAL FLORIDA ARE WORKING ON MAKING THAT HAPPEN. TODAY, SEMINOLE COUNTY OFFICIALS WILL BE HOSTING A VACCINE DISTRIBUTION EVENT FOR THOSE 65 AND OLDER AT THE OVIEDO MALL. THOSE WHO WILL BE GETTING IN LINE HAD TO MAKE AN APPOINTMENT AND PRE-REGISTER ONLINE AHEAD OF TIME. WE’RE TOLD THOSE APPOINTMENT SLOTS FILLED UP FAST. >> WE HAD NO IDEA THAT IT WOULD GO THIS FAST. IN FACT, WE WERE CONCERNED ABOUT ALL THE CONSPIRACY THEORIES RELATED TO VACCINES. WE WANTED TO PROVIDE THIS SERVICE TO THE COMMUNITY MEGAN: THEY DO EXPECT TO OPEN MORE APPOINTMENTS THIS WEEK, BUT ARE CURRENTLY BOOKED THROUGH JANUARY 2. IN ORANGE COUNTY, OFFICIALS HAVE BEEN HOLDING DISTRIBUTION EVENTS FOR FIRST RESPONDERS. OVER IN OSCEOLA COUNTY, THE DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH IS SET TO GET A SHIPMENT IN SOMETIME TODAY OR EARLY THIS WEEK TO ALSO SERVE FIRST RESPONDERS. People who are 65 years and older, as well as health care personal, can now register to receive a COVID-19 vaccine in Osceola County.To register, call 407-343-2000. Those who register can also receive updates on when the vaccine becomes available through email.Officials with the Florida Department of Health and Osceola County say they will be coordinating to offer community-based and mass vaccination clinics when the vaccine becomes more readily available.
