CDC to recommend shorter Covid-19 quarantines – POLITICO

The Centers for Disease Control will soon issue new guidance cutting the quarantine time for people exposed to Covid-19 from 14 days to 10 days — and just seven days if the person has tested negative, an administration official told POLITICO.

The revised recommendations are expected to be announced tonight, and are based on a range of new data on the virus’ behavior compiled by the agency over the last several weeks. The CDC briefed Vice President Mike Pence and White House coronavirus task force officials on the decision today.

Pence had pressed the CDC for months to revisit its quarantine guidelines for those exposed to Covid-19, the administration official said.
