‘Law & Order’ & ‘Law & Order: Organized Crime’ Renewed By NBC – Deadline

Both Law & Order and Law & Order: Organized Crime will be back for new seasons. NBC has renewed Law & Order for a 22nd season and spinoff Organized Crime for a third season. The renewals are not unexpected as both series were expected to continue. NBC previously renewed Law & Order: SVU as part of a three-year renewal for what will be its 24th season, extending its record as the longest-running primetime live-action series of all time, and making it three-for-three for the Dick Wolf series. Law & Order was revived for a 21st season last year, eleven and a half years after it was abruptly canceled by NBC. The renewals mean that Wolf Entertainment and Universal Television have six series from the venerable creator renewed at the network; Chicago Fire...

Percy Jackson author calls out racist backlash over casting – CNN

Actress Leah Jeffries was cast to play Annabeth Chase in the Disney+ adaptation of Rick Riordan's beloved novels. In the books, Chase is described as White, and some fans have criticized the casting of Jeffries for not visually aligning with the books. Riordan was quick to defend Jeffries and condemn the haters in a blog post published Tuesday. "You are judging her appropriateness for this role solely and exclusively on how she looks. She is a Black girl playing someone who was described in the books as white," he wrote. "Friends, that is racism." Since the casting announcement was revealed last week, Riordan said Jeffries has been on the receiving end of racist bullying and other online harassment. In his post, Riordan called these comments "out of line" and demanded they sto...

Judge denies request for Isaiah Lee release in Dave Chappelle case – New York Post

The man who allegedly attacked comedian Dave Chappelle during a show in Los Angeles was denied his shot at freedom by a judge on Tuesday. Isaiah Lee, 23, appeared in a Los Angeles County courtroom, where Judge Armenui Ashvanian rejected his public defender’s bid for him to be released on his own recognizance and left his bail unchanged at $30,000. Lee did not speak and sat next to his attorney, Chelsea Padilla, who told the judge her client was on track to receive housing, which he could lose if he remained in jail, she said. Padilla also told Ashvanian the popularity of Lee’s alleged victim shouldn’t be a factor in her client’s right to be released since a protective order has already been placed on him regarding Chappelle. “It would be a significant hard...
