Hear David Gilmour’s First New Song in Five Years ‘Yes, I Have Ghosts’ – Rolling Stone

David Gilmour is finally giving a wide release to his first new song in five years, “Yes, I Have Ghosts.” Previously, the former Pink Floyd frontman released the tune via the audiobook edition of his wife and long-time collaborator Polly Samson’s novel, A Theatre for Dreamers. Over a waltzing acoustic guitar line and harp played by Gilmour’s daughter, Romany, he sings about “specters of strangers” and fleeting faces in a crowd. “Yes, I have ghosts,” he sings, “Not all of them dead/Making dust of my dreams/Spinning round and around, around in my head.” With its folky textures and lilting melodies, the track bears strong echoes of the music of Leonard Cohen, who appears as a character in A Theatre for Dreamers. It also benefits from Romany’s backup vocals, which combine beautifully wi...

Love Thy Neighbourhood

Verve People Text by Supriya Thanawala. Photographed by Prashant Giani Mumbai’s proactive citizens and environmentalists have been down a long, tedious path. What began in the late 1990s and early 2000s as a humble attempt in neighbourhood activism through local ALM (Advance Locality Management) groups — those that relentlessly urged the BMC and government authorities to fix their broken potholes and water woes — has turned into a much more complex political drama today. With a plethora of environmental cases over the metro and coastal road project lying undecided in courts, the citizens’ spirits have oscillated from cause to cause, protest to protest, and now as the city waits for infras...

Pink Floyd’s David Gilmour Shares First Solo Song in Five Years, ‘Yes, I Have Ghosts’: Listen – Billboard

Pink Floyd guitarist David Gilmour returns with “Yes, I Have Ghosts,” his first new song in five years. It's a gentle, acoustic number with flourishes of strings. On it, Gilmour sings, "Yes, I have ghosts, not all of them dead/ Making dust of my dreams, spinning round and around, around in my head." “Ghosts” isn’t so much a solo tune as a Gilmour family effort. The song accompanies the release of his wife Holly Samson's audiobook for her coming-of-age novel A Theatre for Dreamers, and features daughter Romany on vocals. The audiobook format “has so much untapped potential,” comments Gilmour in a statement, “and I am surprised more musicians have not creatively collaborated with authors, narrators and audiobook producers in this way before. The two worlds seem to seamlessly l...
