Nick Corderos fans start petition to rename New York City theater after late A Bronx Tale actor – Fox News

Broadway fans are petitioning to rename a New York City theater after late actor Nick Cordero, who died this week due to complications from the coronavirus. The petition seeks to change the name of the city’s Longacre Theatre to The Nick Cordero Theatre in honor of the beloved Broadway actor. As of this writing, the petition has more than 27,200 signatures. According to The New York Post, the theater has been around since 1912 and is currently named after Longacre Square, the original name for Times Square. Demi Lovato On New Love, New Management, And Finally Learning To Cry – Bustle

Demi Lovato imagined herself in the middle of the ocean. As the 27-year-old tread water, long black hair skimming over dark waves, she was given a command: Raise your hand if you want to lose weight. Because Lovato is a pop star who has produced nine Top 20 Billboard singles under the scrutiny of 86 million Instagram followers and a BMI-obsessed tabloid press — and because she has dealt with eating disorders for more than a decade — Lovato raised her tattooed and extravagantly nail-arted hand. While Lovato kept herself suspended in the open water with one limb, she was given another directive: Raise your hand if you’re willing to do something about your eating disorder. Because Lovato was, at that point in 2018, not in an ocean but in treatment for that eating disorder — as well as for ad...

Johnny Depp accused of slapping Amber Heard after she laughed at his Wino Forever tattoo – Page Six

Johnny Depp allegedly slapped Amber Heard three times when she laughed at how he changed a tribute tattoo to ex Winona Ryder to read “Wino Forever,” a London court heard Wednesday. Starting the second day of his explosive testimony in his libel case against The Sun, Depp, 57, was immediately accused of being a Jekyll-and-Hyde monster who turned violent during regular drink and drunk binges. The court also heard his now-infamous texts to fellow actor Paul Bettany in which he allegedly said he wanted to “burn” and “drown” Heard — then “f–k her burnt corpse.” The first alleged assault detailed came when Heard laughed at the “Pirates of the Caribbean” star’s tattoo, which first said “Winona Forever” until he changed it after their split in 1993. The laughter “provoked disappoi...

Ringo Starr Celebrates His 80th Birthday with Peace, Love, and Black Lives Matter – Rolling Stone

How did Ringo Starr decide to celebrate 80 years of 8-day weeks? By hosting his own Big Birthday Special livestream to benefit Black Lives Matter? By giving a shout out to the late Little Richard as “my hero”? By jamming on “Helter Skelter” with Paul McCartney? All of the above. It was beyond fab to see Ringo sit behind his legendary drum kit and tell a worldwide audience: “Let’s say it again: Black lives matter! Stand up and make your voice heard!” His star-studded 80th birthday bash was a celebration of Ringoism at its finest: an hour of peace and love and rock & roll, with a little help from his friends. Beatle birthdays are always festive, but this is an emotional one. Ringo is the first Beatle to blow out 80 candles and enter his number-ninth decade, in his very own Octog...

Letter signed by J.K. Rowling, Noam Chomsky warning of stifled free speech draws mixed reviews – The Washington Post

“The free exchange of information and ideas, the lifeblood of a liberal society, is daily becoming more constricted,” states the missive, titled “A Letter on Justice and Open Debate.” “While we have come to expect this on the radical right, censoriousness is also spreading more widely in our culture: an intolerance of opposing views, a vogue for public shaming and ostracism, and the tendency to dissolve complex policy issues in a blinding moral certainty.” The letter — which boasts signatories including cultural icons such as jazz musician Wynton Marsalis, choreographer Bill T. Jones and feminist Gloria Steinem, and public figures like historian Nell Irvin Painter and author Malcolm Gladwell — drew mixed reactions on social media, igniting a heated online debate over free speech and “can...
