Press release from the Humboldt County Joint Information Center: Since March 20 of this year, in response to the COVID-19 pandemic and both State and Local Health Officer Orders, gatherings of individuals outside of the household unit have not been permitted. In spite of this, numerous individuals identifying themselves as invited wedding guests have contacted the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office of Emergency Services to voice their concerns about two ceremonies in particular scheduled for the next two weekends, one in Petrolia and one in Ferndale. These reports were received via the Joint Information Center’s Community Information Line, with additional reports made through the COVID Compliance Line. Coronavirus: ER doctor says trend just beginning for Orange County as hospitalizations spike – KABC-TV

ORANGE COUNTY, Calif. (KABC) -- Orange County has seen a 9.4% increase in hospitalizations over the last 3 days. It's been a trend for the last couple of weeks. "For Orange County specifically, I would say we're in the top of the 2nd inning. I mean, this is just the beginning. We've heard about it all over the country, but it's real now for us in Orange County," said Dr. James Keany, a doctor in the emergency department at Mission Hospital in Mission Viejo. Although they've seen an increase in COVID-19 patients, he says they've been able to manage it all inside the hospital. If they surpass 12 patients at any given time, they'll have to start using the triage tent outside. "Nobody knows what the future holds, but I can tell you, we're on a trajectory for a serious surge at this point. I ...

Ventura County ICUs and ERs are full with COVID-19 patients – Los Angeles Times

A coronavirus hospital surge plan is in place in Ventura County after emergency rooms and intensive care units filled up. During a Wednesday media briefing, Ventura County Executive Officer Michael Powers said that when he asked hospital staffers whether their facilities were filling up, they said they were already full. “That just says that even in a county like Ventura County, where we’ve been doing so well with keeping our numbers low, some of the lowest numbers in the state, even here this can happen. We could see this community spread and we could see a rise in hospital cases. I think this is a good wake-up call for us,” Powers said. There are 79 people hospitalized for acute COVID-19 care in the county, Ventura County Public Health Director Rigoberto Vargas said. In early June, t...

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – More than 600 new cases of the coronavirus were reported Wednesday in Duval County, pushing Jacksonville’s caseload over 10,000. Duval County now has 10,439 confirmed cases with 70 deaths and 387 hospitalizations. Doctors at UF Health in Jacksonville say the hospital has seen a steady increase in COVID-19 patients over the last several weeks as positive cases have risen all over the state. “We’re probably gaining 10% to 15% more COVID patients every day,” said Chad Neilsen, director of infection prevention at UF Health in Jacksonville. “As the community gets more and more of this illness, some of them are bound to end up in the hospital, and that’s what we are seeing across the city.” Baptist on Wednesday reported 133 patients being treated for COVID-19 with 23 in se...

Grand Rapids downgraded to ‘high risk’ for coronavirus control, other regions also drop – MLive.com

As coronavirus cases increase in Michigan, state health leaders have downgraded several state regions on a coronavirus “risk phase” map. The Grand Rapids region was moved to “high risk,” joining the Lansing region. The metro Detroit area also dropped one grade to “medium high” risk and regions in the northern Lower Peninsula and Upper Peninsula moved to “medium risk.” The state maintains the MI Safe Start Map as a way to gauge the control of coronavirus in various areas of the state. The map does not affect any region’s status under Gov. Gretchen Whitmer’s economic reopening plan and most of the Lower Peninsula remains at level four. According to the map, as updated July 4, the Grand Rapids region has dropped two phases since June 25 when it was in the “medium risk” phase. State health...
