L.A. County records 3,322 new coronavirus cases, 18 deaths – Los Angeles Times

Los Angeles County continued to report a surge in coronavirus cases Sunday, tallying 3,322 new cases of the virus and 18 related deaths. With that, the county has now recorded a total of more than 133,700 cases and 3,800 deaths. The continued rise comes as the death toll from the coronavirus in California soared above 7,000 this weekend, with the infection rate continuing to worsen. Hospitalizations also continue to climb, both statewide and in L.A. County. As of Sunday, there were 2,093 confirmed coronavirus patients in county hospitals, with 26% in intensive care and 19% on ventilators, officials said. SAN ANTONIO – Over 1,000 COVID-19 cases and 18 deaths were announced for San Antonio, Bexar County over the weekend. On Saturday, city officials announced 535 new cases and nine deaths. On Sunday, officials announced 511 new COVID-19 cases and another nine deaths. This totals 1,046 COVID-19 cases and 18 deaths in just two days for the area. With these new numbers, the total case count is now 19,648 and the death toll is 184, according to the city’s website. As of Sunday, 6,182 patients have recovered and 13,282 patients are still ill. COVID-19 related hospitalizations are also still on the rise, and available capacity at area hospitals is dwindling. A 37-year-old Ohio man who claimed the coronavirus pandemic was just 'hype' and repeatedly refused to wear a face mask has died from COVID-19.  Richard Rose, a staunch supporter of Donald Trump, wrote on Facebook on July 1 that he was experiencing COVID-19 symptoms, and went to get tested.  The U.S. Army veteran, who served for nine years and did two tours of Iraq and Afghanistan, tested positive.
