San Luis Obispo County says a sixth county resident who tested positive for COVID-19 has died. Health officials say the individual was in their 90s and lived at a long-term care facility for the elderly. They say the patient was infected through person-to-person spread at the facility. "This disease is spread person-to-person in SLO County, which means each of us can play a part in breaking that chain of transmission," said County Health Officer Dr. Penny Borenstein. "I ask you to do your part: avoid social and multi-family gatherings, maintain six feet of distance when leaving the house, and wear a face covering in public if you can." A Montana nursing home turned down free Covid-19 tests. Now, almost every resident is infected and 8 have died – CNN

Now, almost all of the residents and some staff at Canyon Creek Memory Care have Covid-19, and eight residents have died of the disease, according to officials. On June 30, one resident of Canyon Creek began to show symptoms of Covid-19, Chase Salyers, a spokesman for Koelsch Senior Communities, the company that runs the facility, told CNN. After that person's test came back positive, the facility tested everyone on July 3, Salyers explained. Those tests revealed that of the 59 Canyon Creek residents and 55 staff who were tested, 43 residents and 15 staff were positive for Covid-19, the company said last week. That number has since grown. Jefferson County enacts mandatory mask order as COVID-19 cases rise – The Denver Post

Jefferson County on Tuesday joined a growing number of Colorado municipalities to enact a mask requirement for anyone in public settings to combat the spread of COVID-19. Under the order, which goes into effect 5 p.m. Tuesday and expires 6 a.m. July 22 if not extended, residents and visitors who are outside their homes “must wear a mask or cloth face covering when in public settings when unable to maintain six-foot social distancing,” county health officials said in a news release. People will not be required to wear masks at home or in a car with members of their household. And businesses will be required to post signs saying people must wear facial coverings when inside, according to the county’s order.
