Crimes of the Future trailer: Cronenberg makes pain the ultimate pleasure – Polygon

The new trailer for David Cronenberg’s Crimes of the Future ramps up the body horror. And because this version is the red-band one, there’s no holding back on all the gritty details. The upcoming Crimes of the Future is not to be confused with Cronenberg’s 1970 film of the same exact name. The new movie is not a remake, but will be a sci-fi horror original, marking the director’s return to the genre. In Crimes of the Future, pain has been all but eliminated from this anesthetized of future society — which means that experiencing pain through self-mutilation and surgery has become a strange sexual performance. Freaky! The trailer has a lot of this, so if you’re squeamish about people cutting themselves and moaning, along with some pretty gnarly body horror modifications, perhaps s...

Kim Kardashian changed into another Marilyn Monroe dress after Met Gala 2022 – Page Six

Kim Kardashian had multiple Marilyn moments at the 2022 Met Gala. After walking Monday’s red carpet in the iconic Jean Louis dress Marilyn Monroe wore to sing “Happy Birthday, Mr. President” to John F. Kennedy in 1962, the Skims founder slipped into a second memorable look of the screen star’s back at her hotel. “To top off my night after The Met, I had the honor of changing into Marilyn Monroe’s Norman Norell dress that she wore to the Golden Globes in 1962 —where she received the Henrietta Award For World Film Favorite,” Kardashian, 41, captioned photos of herself in the glittering green garment Friday. “In my quest to find the Jean Louis hand beaded dress that I wore to the gala, I discovered @heritageauctions owned Marilyn’s iconic green sequined gow...

CDC says 7 Mass. counties now have high COVID-19 levels, recommends mask-wearing – The Boston Globe

Seven Massachusetts counties now have “high” community levels of COVID-19 and people in those areas should wear masks in indoor public spaces, the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention says. The counties are Berkshire, Franklin, Worcester, Middlesex, Suffolk, Norfolk, and Barnstable, according to the CDC’s website, which rates virus levels in US counties as “a tool to help communities decide what prevention steps to take.” Hampshire, Hampden, Essex, Plymouth, Dukes, and Nantucket counties are ranked as having “medium” levels. The only county still at “low” levels is Bristol. The CDC determines community COVID-19 levels by looking at hospital beds being used, hospital admissions, and the total number of new COVID-19 cases in an area, according to the CDC website. It recommends ...

Stop Cleaning Your Ears – Lifehacker

Photo: Regreto (Shutterstock) You rarely, if ever, need to remove earwax on your own. Earwax is good! I know this. I really do. And yet—even though I know better—sometimes I cannot resist the urge to use a cotton swab and clean my ears myself. Here’s what to know if you’re like me and occasionally go too far trying to clean your ears manually. You really shouldn’t use cotton swabs to clean your ears There’s a lot of confusion (or willful denial) out there about how to take care of our ears. We’ve previously covered how to properly maintain your ears and earwax, with a major takeaway being that you should always avoid sticking cotton swabs into your ear. It’s rarely necessary to remove earwax on your own. Our ears are self-cleaning, and the earwax you have is important for protecti...

CDC investigating more than 100 cases of unexplained hepatitis in children, including 5 deaths – CNN

Among them, 14% needed transplants, and five children have died. Nearly all the children -- more than 90% -- needed to be hospitalized. Dr. Jay Butler, the CDC's deputy director of infectious diseases, stressed that the investigation -- a partnership between the CDC and state health departments -- is an evolving situation. Not all the hepatitis cases they are studying now may ultimately be caused by the same thing. "It's important to note that this is an evolving situation, and we are casting a wide net to help broaden our understanding," Butler said. Hepatitis, or swelling of the liver, can be caused by infections, autoimmune diseases, drugs and toxins. A family of viruses well known for attacking the liver causes hepatitis A, hepatitis B and hepatitis C. It's not clear what's driving th...

Bucatini all’Amatriciana Recipe

A Classic Roman Dish - Bucatini all'Amatriciana Like many of you, Meg and I watched the Stanley Tucci special on CNN called Searching for Italy. In the Rome episode, he has lunch at Armando Al Pantheon to enjoy their famous rigatoni all'amatriciana, one of Rome's famous pastas. I made it a little different and call it bucatini all'Amatriciana. Of course I had to run out and buy the ingredients so we could make it at home. Not a lot of ingredients and very simple to prepare and absolutely delicious. Let's look at some of the ingredients. Bucatini Bucatini is a pasta that looks a lot like spaghetti but it is thicker and has a whole running down through the strand. My kids like to say it looks like a straw made out of pasta.  If you lived in Naples, Italy, you would call...

Box Office: ‘Doctor Strange 2’ Opens to Astonishing $36 Million in Previews – Variety

This sorcerer still reigns supreme. Disney and Marvel’s “Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness” earned a formidable $36 million in Thursday previews, setting the stage for what could be a massive $175 million-plus debut this weekend. This ranks as the eighth largest preview performance ever, behind “Avengers: Infinity War’s” $39 million in 2018. Its launch should boost morale in Hollywood, which could use the lift these days, what with all the mergers, layoffs and sliding share prices. It also officially kicks off the summer blockbuster season, a time of year that will see the releases of “Jurassic World: Dominion,” “Top Gun: Maverick” and “Thor: Love and Thunder,” the kind of four-quadrant fare that theater owners hope will help continue their rebound from COVID closures....

Amber Heard claims Johnny Depp once pushed Kate Moss down the stairs – New York Post

Amber Heard suddenly dropped Kate Moss’ name in Johnny Depp’s bombshell defamation trial Thursday, as she alleged the actor once pushed the British supermodel down the stairs. Heard, 36, made the claim during day two of her testimony in Fairfax, Virginia, as she detailed a slew of violent fights she allegedly had with Depp over the course of their soured romance. The “Aquaman” actress briefly mentioned Moss while describing when she punched Depp in the face for the first time out of fear he was going to shove her sister Whitney down a staircase. Heard said she and her then-husband had been fighting on the mezzanine of the stairs in one his many penthouses in March 2015 when her sister got in between them. “She threw herself in the line of fire,” Heard sa...
