Dave Chappelle spoke to alleged attacker backstage — heres what the suspect said – New York Post

Dave Chappelle said he actually spoke to his alleged Hollywood Bowl attacker backstage after Tuesday’s attack — and the wannabe rapper gave a rambling reason for why he did it, a report said. The famous comic told the crowd at a secret comedy show in Los Angeles Thursday night that he convinced security to let him approach Isaiah Lee, 23, before he was hauled away by cops, according to the Hollywood Reporter. “I needed to talk to him,” the 48-year-old told the crowd. Chappelle said he asked Lee why he did it — and the accused attacker launched into a story about how his grandmother had been forced out her Brooklyn neighborhood because of gentrification, the publication reported. Lee’s on-stage attack was supposed to shed light on her situation, Chappelle ...

Jeopardy! winner Mattea Roach defeated by $1 after 23 victories – USA TODAY

Mattea Roach's 23-game winning streak on "Jeopardy!" came to an end Friday, and it was all thanks to one, measly dollar. The 23-year-old tutor from Toronto lost on Friday's episode to Danielle Maurer, a digital marketing manager and author who lives in Peachtree Corners, Georgia. Roach's dethroning came just one game after she prepared herself to say goodbye. In Thursday's episode, not entirely confident in her Final Jeopardy! answer, Roach included the text "(if this is it, thanks for the fun!)", which host Ken Jennings referenced at the top of Friday's show.  Roach had a strong lead for most of the game. At the conclusion of Double Jeopardy, Roach had racked up $19,200; Maurer, $11,400 and a third contestant, Betsy Hobbs, had $7,400. With Mattea Roach, it's official: 'Jeopardy!' has ent...

A pig virus may have contributed to the death of first pig heart transplant patient – The Verge

A preventable infection by a porcine virus might have contributed to the death of the first patient to have a heart transplant with a pig organ, MIT Technology Review reported this week. David Bennett Sr, who had severe heart disease, received a genetically modified pig heart in early January of this year — a major milestone in animal-to-human transplants, or xenotransplantation. He died in March. Initially, the hospital where the procedure was performed said that the cause of death was unknown. But last month, Bennett’s transplant surgeon said in a webinar that the heart was infected with porcine cytomegalovirus, a virus that doesn’t infect human cells but can damage the organ. Virus-free hearts transplanted into baboons survived much longer than virus-infected hearts, according...

Bucatini all’Amatriciana Recipe

A Classic Roman Dish - Bucatini all'Amatriciana Like many of you, Meg and I watched the Stanley Tucci special on CNN called Searching for Italy. In the Rome episode, he has lunch at Armando Al Pantheon to enjoy their famous rigatoni all'amatriciana, one of Rome's famous pastas. I made it a little different and call it bucatini all'Amatriciana. Of course I had to run out and buy the ingredients so we could make it at home. Not a lot of ingredients and very simple to prepare and absolutely delicious. Let's look at some of the ingredients. Bucatini Bucatini is a pasta that looks a lot like spaghetti but it is thicker and has a whole running down through the strand. My kids like to say it looks like a straw made out of pasta.  If you lived in Naples, Italy, you would call...

Dave Chappelle upset armed attacker isnt facing felony charge: lawyer – New York Post

Dave Chappelle is “upset” his alleged armed attacker wasn’t hit with a felony charge after attacking him while holding a weapon on-stage at the Hollywood Bowl, his lawyer told The Post on Friday. “It’s a travesty of justice that DA [George] Gascòn is refusing to prosecute this case as a felony,” the comic’s attorney Gabriel Colwell said. “The City Attorney, who filed the case, is doing his job but DA Gascón should also do his job and charge this as a felony.” The 48-year-old comedian’s lawyer called on the DA to reconsider the charges, shortly after Isaiah Lee, 23, pleaded not guilty to four misdemeanor counts over the caught-on-camera attack on Chappelle during his Tuesday show. “This was a violent assault that was perpetrated on an unsuspecting entertainer w...

CDC reports 109 cases of puzzling hepatitis cases in kids, 5 deaths – Ars Technica

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention is now investigating 109 cases of unexplained liver inflammation—hepatitis—in young children from 25 states over the past seven months. Of the 109 affected children, five have died, and 15 (14 percent) required liver transplants. The children were all under the age of 10, and 90 percent were hospitalized. The CDC's announcement Friday marks a dramatic uptick in the US's reported cases, which was limited to nine confirmed cases in Alabama just three weeks ago. The cases also add to a mounting global tally, which reached upward of 300 cases from more than two dozen countries. But, despite the boom in cases, CDC and international health investigators are still puzzled about the cause of the illnesses. S...
