Combining Certain Medications With Ibuprofen Can Permanently Injure Kidneys – SciTechDaily

Commonly prescribed hypertension medications may be harmful in combination with ibuprofen. Anyone who is taking a diuretic and a renin-angiotensin system (RSA) inhibitor for hypertension (high blood pressure) should be cautious about also taking the painkiller ibuprofen, according to new research. Diuretics and RSA inhibitors are commonly prescribed together for people with hypertension and are available under various pharmaceutical brand names. Pain-relievers such as ibuprofen are available over-the-counter in most pharmacies and stores in popular brands including Advil and Motrin. Researchers at the University of Waterloo used computer-simulated drug trials to model the interactions of the three drugs and the impact on the kidney. They found that in people with certain m...

Bucatini all’Amatriciana Recipe

A Classic Roman Dish - Bucatini all'Amatriciana Like many of you, Meg and I watched the Stanley Tucci special on CNN called Searching for Italy. In the Rome episode, he has lunch at Armando Al Pantheon to enjoy their famous rigatoni all'amatriciana, one of Rome's famous pastas. I made it a little different and call it bucatini all'Amatriciana. Of course I had to run out and buy the ingredients so we could make it at home. Not a lot of ingredients and very simple to prepare and absolutely delicious. Let's look at some of the ingredients. Bucatini Bucatini is a pasta that looks a lot like spaghetti but it is thicker and has a whole running down through the strand. My kids like to say it looks like a straw made out of pasta.  If you lived in Naples, Italy, you would call...

Fred Savage Fired From The Wonder Years Reboot After Misconduct Investigation – The Daily Beast

Fred Savage has been fired from The Wonder Years reboot following an investigation into multiple complaints of misconduct in his role as executive producer and director. “Recently, we were made aware of allegations of inappropriate conduct by Fred Savage, and as is policy, an investigation was launched,” a spokesman for Disney’s 20th Television said in a statement to Deadline Friday. “Upon its completion, the decision was made to terminate his employment as an executive producer and director of The Wonder Years.” Deadline reported that Savage—who appeared in the original ’80s series—exhibited inappropriate behavior and had verbal outbursts throughout production. Savage played Kevin Arnold in the ‘60s and ‘70s-set show for six seasons from 1988-1993. He was the youngest actor...

Amber Heard appears to flinch as Johnny Depp walks toward her in court – Page Six

Amber Heard appeared to flinch as Johnny Depp walked toward her in court Thursday before a lunch break in their tense defamation trial. The “Aquaman” actress stepped down from her second day on the stand at the same time that the “Pirates of the Caribbean” star was leaving the Virginia courtroom in a now-viral video tweeted by a Law&Crime Network producer. Heard was looking down at first and did not appear to notice that Depp had gotten out of his seat, but once she saw him approaching mere feet in front of her, she seemingly recoiled with a spooked expression on her face. The “Adderall Diaries” star then backed into a corner as a guard stepped in between the exes and held out his hand, signaling the “Edward Scissorhands” actor not to come any closer...

Box Office: ‘Doctor Strange 2’ Flies to Sensational $90M Friday – Hollywood Reporter

Game on. Marvel Studios and Disney’s Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness is on course to score $185 million to $200 million in its domestic debut and land one of the biggest openings of all time domestically after grossing an enormous $90 million on Friday. Disney is being more conservative in suggesting an opening weekend in the $170 million to $185 range. Friday’s haul — which included $36 million in Thursday previews — is the seventh biggest opening day of all time and gives the Marvel Cinematic Universe five of the top 10 opening days ever. It is also more than the entire opening weekends of 10 MCU titles, including the first Doctor Strange, which opened to $85.1 million in 2016, not adjusted for inflation. Directed by Sam Raimi, the $200 mi...

Millions of people suffer from long COVID. Why is there still no treatment? – San Francisco Chronicle

Shelley Hayden of Sonoma has a case of long COVID so serious that her “brain is broken,” she said. The 54-year-old marketing coach asked not to be interrupted in conversation so she wouldn’t lose her train of thought. Tyler Gustafson of Berkeley recovered from COVID-19 in 2020, then got hit last summer with what felt like a heart attack: deep, aching chest pain. His body tingled. His blood pressure soared. His left side grew numb, and his thinking slowed. Even his vision became distorted. Worst of all, the symptoms never let up, so the management consultant took medical leave. He was 30 years old. Mysteriously, Gustafson has begun to recover. But Hayden still battles frequent “crashes” that leave her mentally and physically exhausted for days or weeks at a time. ...
