A Classic Roman Dish - Bucatini all'Amatriciana Like many of you, Meg and I watched the Stanley Tucci special on CNN called Searching for Italy. In the Rome episode, he has lunch at Armando Al Pantheon to enjoy their famous rigatoni all'amatriciana, one of Rome's famous pastas. I made it a little different and call it bucatini all'Amatriciana. Of course I had to run out and buy the ingredients so we could make it at home. Not a lot of ingredients and very simple to prepare and absolutely delicious. Let's look at some of the ingredients. Mickey Gilley, country star who inspired Urban Cowboy, dead at 86 – New York Post

Mickey Gilley, country music star and owner of a famed eponymous Texas honky-tonk that inspired the movie “Urban Cowboy,” died Saturday at the age of 86. Gilley “passed peacefully with his family and close friends by his side” in Branson, Missouri, a statement from Mickey Gilley Associates said. The “Window Up Above” singer and piano player, who was a cousin of rock legend Jerry Lee Lewis, had performed as recently as last month but had been in declining health in the past week. He opened Gilley’s, “the world’s largest honky tonk,” in the early 1970s in Pasadena, Texas. Mickey Leroy Gilley was born on March 9, 1936, in Natchez, Miss., to Irene (Lewis) and Arthur Gilley. Raised in nearby Ferriday, La., he grew up singing gospel harmonies with his cousins Mr. Swaggart and Mr. Lewis, and sneaking into local juke joints with them to hear blues and honky-tonk music. Mr. Gilley’s mother bought him a piano when he was 10, shortly before he came under the boogie-woogie-inspired tutelage of his cousin Jerry. Researchers Developed A Wearable Sensor That Can Detect Infections Like COVID-19 And Influenza Through Human Sweat – Chip Chick

Since Fitbits and Apple Watches revolutionized widespread health monitoring through the use of wearable sensors, a plethora of new studies has sought to push the bounds of wearable sensors’ abilities. Now, a team of bioengineers from the University of Texas at Dallas has collaborated with EnLiSense LLC to create a wearable sensor that can identify the prevalence of infections through sweat. Their study, published in Advanced Materials Technologies, found that the sweat sensor can detect two important biomarkers– one known as gamma-inducible protein (IP-10) and the other known as tumor necrosis factor-related apoptosis-inducing ligand (TRAIL). As COVID Hospitalizations Rise, Public Health Asks LA County to Keep Each Other Safe on Mothers Day – NBC Southern California

The number of COVID-positive patients in Los Angeles County hospitals has risen by 19 people to 258, according to the latest state data out Saturday. The number of those patients being treated in intensive care was 33, down from 36 on Friday. Those numbers come one day after local health officials reported more than 3,200 new infections, while warning again of the disproportionate impact the pandemic has had on Black and Latino/a residents. The county reported 3,270 new infections Friday, lifting its overall total throughout the pandemic to 2,888,408. Six more virus-related fatalities were also reported, raising the death toll to 31,991, according to the Los Angeles Department of Public Health.
