Bucatini all’Amatriciana Recipe

A Classic Roman Dish - Bucatini all'Amatriciana Like many of you, Meg and I watched the Stanley Tucci special on CNN called Searching for Italy. In the Rome episode, he has lunch at Armando Al Pantheon to enjoy their famous rigatoni all'amatriciana, one of Rome's famous pastas. I made it a little different and call it bucatini all'Amatriciana. Of course I had to run out and buy the ingredients so we could make it at home. Not a lot of ingredients and very simple to prepare and absolutely delicious. Let's look at some of the ingredients. Bucatini Bucatini is a pasta that looks a lot like spaghetti but it is thicker and has a whole running down through the strand. My kids like to say it looks like a straw made out of pasta.  If you lived in Naples, Italy, you would call...

Kim Kardashian for president! How my obsession with reality TV got out of control – The Guardian

Reality TV From Wife Swap to Big Brother to Towie, Sirin Kale has been a proud and passionate reality TV addict since her tweens. But as she delved deeper for her new podcast, she came face to face with its dark side Fri 13 May 2022 08.00 EDT My mum is watching TV in the kitchen, my dad is at work. The house is quiet. I assess: the TV is booming from the kitchen. My mum will be in there for a while. I switch channels. There is a naked woman on screen, covered in clay, pressing herself against a wall. I am not meant to be watching this. I look nervously at the kitchen door and turn the volume down. Her lips move but the words are inaudible. Now more people are getting naked and rubbing clay on breasts, thighs, genitalia. They jump up and down and cheer. They squish themselves against th...

Gwyneth Paltrows $120 disposable Goop diapers are not what you think – CNN

CNN  —  Gwyneth Paltrow was involved in an announcement this week that some people thought was, well, pardon the intended pun, crap. On Wednesday, a posting on the verified Instagram account of the company she founded, Goop, introduced “The Diapér.” “Our new disposable diaper lined with virgin alpaca wool and fastened with amber gemstones, known for their ancient emotional-cleansing properties,” the caption read. “Infused with a scent of jasmine and bergamot for a revitalized baby.” It was not embraced, with one person commenting “Meanwhile hundreds of thousands of parents in the USA can’t even afford basic diapers.” Some others just doubted it could be true becaus...

Nassau, Suffolk have high levels of COVID-19 spread, CDC says – Newsday

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention on Thursday elevated both Nassau and Suffolk counties' "community level" risk of COVID-19 transmission to high, with public health officials now urging Long Islanders to wear a mask indoors in all public locations. The change, which puts Long Island in the most high-risk designation, comes amid a steady increase in coronavirus cases in recent months — a spike health officials contend has been fueled by both the spread of the omicron subvariants and by the end of mask mandates in schools and other crowded indoor buildings. The CDC's recommendation is not enforceable, and masks are now mandatory in only a handful of locations across the state, including hospitals, nursing homes, state-run public transportation hubs and local airports. T...

How to Watch Eurovision 2022 – The New York Times

LONDON — The Eurovision Song Contest started in 1956 as a friendly music competition between public service television broadcasters and has since grown into the world’s largest — and perhaps most eccentric — live music event. This year, the competition takes place while there is a war in Europe; in February, the event’s organizers announced that Russia would be barred from competing, citing “the unprecedented crisis in Ukraine.” This week, 35 other countries, including Ukraine, competed in semifinal rounds ahead of Saturday’s final, which attracts more than 180 million viewers around the world. The event, held in Italy this year, rewards live viewership, with clips from performances and reactions spreading quickly across social media. Below are rundowns on hotly tipped acts, advice a...

Ukraine takes the Eurovision Song Contest spotlight as the weirdest show on earth returns – CNN

The folk-rap group are runaway favorites in the betting markets and their presence at the tournament has captured the imagination of fans from every competing country. "As we speak, our country and our culture is under threat. But we want to show that we are alive, Ukrainian culture is alive, it is unique, diverse, and beautiful," Oleg Psyuk, the band's front man, told CNN. "This is our way to be useful to our country," he said. At first sight, the six-piece group seem to slot in comfortably with dozens of their more eccentric Eurovision brethren. Most members wear elaborate national dress, with rapper Psyuk also sporting a pink bucket hat. One member is so submerged by patterned embroidery that only his mouth is visible, while the group's double bassist comes dressed as a ball of yarn. ...
