Fortnite honors Renegade creator Jalaiah Harmon with her own in-game emote – The Verge

Fortnite’s newest in-game emote is a collaborative one. Epic Games this evening announced the launch of “The Renegade,” the viral TikTok dance created by Atlanta teenager Jalaiah Harmon. The Twitter account for Fortnite openly cites Harmon, writing, “Go, go, go, go, let’s go and bust out some [fire] moves by @jalaiah.” It’s not clear whether Epic and Harmon struck some type of licensing deal, but it’s a possibility considering the developer’s rocky legal history with dance emotes. Throughout Fortnite’s meteoric rise starting in the fall of 2017, the game has featured a number of real-world dances copied from pop culture. Sometimes the emotes were inspired by dances on old television shows, like the default dance inspired by Scrubs actor Donald Faison. But quite often these dances w...

His aunt, Nikki Walker took some time to share Bridger's story with the world and tagged some of the biggest superheroes on the planet, hoping to get just one response. Hartford Infant Died of SIDS, Had COVID-19: OCME – NBC Connecticut

A 6 and a half week-old baby from Hartford whose death was reported to be related to the coronavirus was infected with the virus, but the cause of death was determined to be Sudden Unexpected Death in Infancy (SIDS), the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner (OCME) confirmed Friday. Infants sometimes die of unexplained causes or unsafe sleeping conditions. When there is no definitive cause of death, these deaths are typically ruled "undetermined" or "Sudden unexpected/Unexplained Death in Infancy," according to the OCME. Officials confirmed the infant was infected with COVID-19 by sending lung tissue to the CDC. It is currently unclear how the virus may affect infants, and it is therefore unclear how the COVID-19 infection may have contributed to the baby's death, if at all...

Scottsdale extends mandate, requires masks to be worn in public areas through Aug. 20 – AZCentral

Scottsdale residents will be required to wear face masks in most public areas through Aug. 20 after Mayor Jim Lane signed a new proclamation on Friday extending the initial mask mandate.  Mask-wearing became mandatory in cities across Arizona last month as the state responded to record-setting cases of COVID-19. The mayor's initial mandate from June 18 was set to expire Monday. Lane said he has spoken regularly with health care leaders in the city who told him that the stress on hospital resources in the wake of rising infection rates had been "substantial." “We certainly can’t afford for it to get worse," Lane said in a statement on Friday. “Few people like wearing a mask, but it’s a simple and easy thing to do, for a relatively short period of time, to help our community get through thi...
