Facebook Watch Jada Pinkett Smith and Will Smith on Red Table Talk In an interview that has been viewed over 31 million times since last Friday afternoon, Jada Pinkett Smith, 48, and her husband, Will Smith, 51, talked about the scandal that has ruptured their public-facing personae and their implacably cool coupledom. They admitted what their representatives had initially vehemently denied a couple of weeks ago: that during a period of separation with Will four and a half years ago, Jada had a relationship — what she called “an entanglement” — with R&B singer August Alsina, 27. Notably, Will was absent from promo for the episode, which premiered without wa...

Alex Trebek says he will stop cancer treatment if chemotherapy fails – New York Post

Alex Trebek says if his latest round of chemotherapy isn’t successful, he will stop treatment. In his up-and-down battle with stage 4 pancreatic cancer, the beloved “Jeopardy!” host is struggling with side effects of the chemo, including pain that keeps him awake at night. “Yesterday morning my wife came to me and said, ‘How are you feeling?’ And I said, ‘I feel like I want to die.’ It was that bad,” he told the New York Times. “There comes a time where you have to make a decision as to whether you want to continue with such a low quality of life, or whether you want to just ease yourself into the next level. It doesn’t bother me in the least.” Working in a studio set up in his LA home over the past several months has boosted his strength, he said: “It’s the strangest thin...

Even a magical sword cant help “Cursed,” a retelling of the Arthurian legend that needs honing – Salon

Unspoken rules exist with regard to weapons in dramatic storytelling. If there's a gun on the stage, it needs to go off. If we see that a character has a knife in his boot, he'd better use it to get out of a bind . . . or his bonds. And if a story centers upon a supernatural sword, the main character had better know how to swing it. "Cursed," Netflix's latest attempt to lock down a successful fantasy franchise in a post-"Game of Thrones" world, places the sword of Arthurian legend into the hands of a young woman named Nimue, played by Katherine Langford (of "13 Reasons Why" fame). Nimue hails from fairy folk, a people connected to nature and the spirit realm. Among those with inherent powers she has special gifts her fellow villagers fear, marking her as an outsider. And that's before she...

Hartford Infant Died Of SIDS, Had COVID-19: Medical Examiner – Hartford, CT Patch

HARTFORD, CT — On April 1, Gov. Ned Lamont shared the news that a 6-week-old baby from the Hartford area died from the new coronavirus. When Lamont made the announcement he said the baby is believed to be the youngest coronavirus victim in the country. "This is absolutely heartbreaking," Lamont said at a news conference on April 1. "We believe this is one of the youngest lives lost anywhere due to complications relating to COVID-19. This is a virus that attacks our most fragile without mercy." After Lamont's comments, state officials said they needed to confirm whether the baby died from the virus or possibly something else. And at 5 p.m. Friday, James Gill, M.D., Chief Medical Examiner, released a brief statement to the news media. In the statement, Gill said that while the baby...

A teenager’s apparent clumsiness foreshadowed a shocking diagnosis – The Washington Post

But when Jessica tumbled off the bleachers while preparing to accept a math award at her South Jersey high school graduation, the undeniable reality that something more than mere clumsiness was at work became glaringly apparent. Three years later, when her daughter received the shocking diagnosis, Judy Kalnas immediately recalled statements her own mother had made decades earlier about another family. Those remarks would come to have particular resonance after what Kalnas learned about her own children, especially Jessica, now 31. A diagnosis discarded The summer Jessica was 14, her large extended family rented a house on North Carolina’s Outer Banks. One afternoon Judy spotted Jessica crawling up the steep steps from the beach on her hands and knees. When she asked her daughter wha...

We really need help: Coronavirus overwhelms rural Oregon – The Associated Press

SALEM, Ore. (AP) — Heather Griggs presses a phone to her ear in a makeshift office in the small brick courthouse that once served as a jail in rural Pendleton, a place best known for its annual rodeo. Her assured tone masks her exhaustion when she tells the person on the other end that they may have been exposed to COVID-19. It’s a call she has made thousands of times since March, but lately there has been a heightened sense of urgency. The coronavirus has torn through the small Oregon community where farmers grow crops such as potatoes, onions and grains. In Umatilla County, where Pendleton is located, the rate of people testing positive for COVID-19 is about 16%. That’s a measure of how widespread the disease is in the community, and the World Health Organization recommends it stay belo...

New trailers: Muppets Now, Project Power, Star Trek: Lower Decks & more – The Verge

Palm Springs, the new Andy Samberg comedy, likely would have gone to theaters if the world weren’t... you know... right now. But with theaters still closed, the film landed straight on Hulu, and it’s kind of the perfect movie for streaming from home — short, funny, and about being stuck in the same place endlessly. It even broke first-weekend records for Hulu. I watched the movie last weekend, too, and really enjoyed it. The film takes the premise of Groundhog Day and revamps it to slightly more ridiculous and modern results. What makes Palm Springs work so well is both a twist to the formula — multiple people stuck together in the loop — and the film’s trust that the audience needs little explanation of what’s going on. The premise is quickly established, and then the film just mov...
