Dave Chappelle Visits Kanye West in Wyoming, Following Twitter Rant – TMZ

Play video content Breaking News Kanye West has some company in Wyoming following his Twitter meltdown, but it's not his family checking in on him ... it's Dave Chappelle. The rapper says Dave hopped on a jet to come see him "doing well" on the ranch, and called him a "God send and a true friend." The great, warm, friendly visit did come with one slightly awkward moment. Kanye got Dave, and a few other friends there, to gather around for a video ... and then put the comedian on the spot to come up with something funny -- y'know, to make everyone laugh. It was, apparently, pretty early in the day, 'cause ...

How Hollywood accidentally built Netflix – Vox.com

When Netflix started streaming TV shows and movies back in 2007, it had the market more or less to itself. At the time, video on the internet meant YouTube, where you could see dogs on skateboards or short SNL clips. Now, everyone is racing to catch up to Netflix and launching their own streaming services. But the big media companies are far behind. That’s their own fault. They watched Netflix build its streaming powerhouse right in front of their noses — and even worse, with their assistance. That’s one of the stories we tell in this week’s episode of Land of the Giants: The Netflix Effect, which focuses on the impact Netflix has had on Hollywood and on the people who run it and work in it. It’s a story that kicks off with a ride down Sunset Boulevard, where Netflix’s pre...

COVID-19 immunity: Virus antibodies may fade fast but protection may not – NBC News

New research suggests that antibodies the immune system makes to fight the new coronavirus may only last a few months in people with mild illness, but that doesn’t mean protection also is gone or that it won’t be possible to develop an effective vaccine. “Infection with this coronavirus does not necessarily generate lifetime immunity,” but antibodies are only part of the story, said Dr. Buddy Creech, an infectious disease specialist at Vanderbilt University. He had no role in the work, published Tuesday in the New England Journal of Medicine. The immune system remembers how to make fresh antibodies if needed and other parts of it also can mount an attack, he said. Antibodies are proteins that white blood cells called B cells make to bind to the virus and help eliminate it. The earliest ...

California teen dies after suffering coronavirus symptoms, family says – Fox News

A 13-year-old boy in California has died after experiencing symptoms of the novel coronavirus despite initially testing negative for COVID-19, his family claims. Maxx Cheng, 13, of Claremont, began isolating in his room after showing signs of COVID-19 — namely nausea, vomiting and chest pains — on July 4. He was tested for the deadly virus a few days later, on July 9, but received a negative result, Charlotte Cheng, the teen’s sister, told Los Angeles outlet KCBS-TV. UNIFORM USE OF CORONAVIRUS FACE MASKS MAY HAVE PREVENTED OUTBREAK AT MISSOURI HAIR SALON: REPORT “His symptoms matched, but then the test came out negative,” she added. “So we were a little bit confused.” Maxx returned home following the test and continued to self-isolate in his room despite the negative test result. Top COVID-19 vaccine makers say safe, effective and low-cost candidates possible by early 2021 – USA TODAY

Top vaccine makers predict a vaccine or vaccines may be available as early as the beginning of 2021 and at least two pledged doses will be free or low-cost for all Americans. Speaking before a House subcommittee Tuesday, executives from AstraZeneca, Johnson & Johnson, Merck, Moderna and Pfizer said their goal is to have effective vaccines available as soon as possible while following all safety and regulatory guidelines.  None of the pharmaceutical executives would commit to having a vaccine ready for the general public before early 2021, despite repeated questioning by House members. The United States has so far invested nearly $2.3 billion in the effort to find a vaccine to stop SARS-CoV-2, the virus that causes COVID-19, which has killed more than 140,000 Americans. Safety emer...

Sweden had one of the most relaxed COVID-19 lockdowns in the world. Theres growing evidence that it help.. – Business Insider

ANDERS WIKLUND/Getty Throughout the coronavirus pandemic, Sweden has drawn international attention for its unorthodox approach to managing the virus' spread. Unlike most European countries, Sweden didn't impose strict lockdown measures. Now it's reaping the rewards — economically speaking, at least. A report from Capital Economics published on Tuesday found that the Swedish economy was the least harmed in Europe, describing it as the "best of a bad bunch." Though Sweden was not immune to the pandemic's economic impact, it was the only major economy to grow in the first quarter of the year, the report noted. MacGyver actor Lucas Till claims he was suicidal due to showrunner Peter Lenkovs abuse – Fox News

"MacGyver" actor Lucas Till is opening up about alleged abuse he suffered during the CBS show's first season from showrunner Peter Lenkov. In a new interview with Vanity Fair, Till voiced his discomfort while working under Lenkov, who was fired by CBS earlier this month as a result of toxic workplace claims. The 29-year-old actor said he was a victim of bullying, particularly body shaming, from the axed staffer. "I’ve never worked this hard in my life, and I am fine with hard work,” Till told the outlet. “But the way Peter treats people is just unacceptable. I was suicidal that first year on the show, because of the way he made me feel. But the way he’s treated the people around me—that’s just my breaking point.” CBS FIRES 'MACGYVER' AND 'MAGNUM P.I.'
