Former CDC director: Opening schools is easy, keeping them open is the hard part – Fox News

Former CDC Director Dr. Tom Frieden said that while children may not suffer from coronavirus to the same degree as adults, there is still a lot of unknowns when it comes to how they are affected and having kids in school this fall could prove difficult in some places. In an interview with "Fox News Sunday," Frieden noted the concern with whether or not opening schools will be safe for faculty and staff -- as well as students' families -- but said that in areas where case numbers are staying low it may be safe. NEW JERSEY GYM OWNERS ON FIGHTING BACK AGAINST COVID-19 SHUTDOWN: 'WE REFUSE TO BE LOCKED OUT AND BULLIED' “One thing we know is that kids are way, way less likely to get seriously ill from COVID, about a thousand times less likely than adults," he said. "In addition, the severi...

Look at this cool LED face mask made by a fashion entrepreneur – The Verge

At the start of the coronavirus pandemic, fashion designer Chelsea Klukas of Lumen Couture was planning to make some standard cloth face masks for friends. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommends wearing homemade face coverings to prevent the spread of the virus. Lumen Couture has an entire line of tech-enabled fashion, including dresses, hoodies, and costumes, and Klukas shifted to masks when in-person events were being canceled and sales for other products were slumping. She decided to add the tech to make the face masks a little more fun. “I had the components around, so I put together a quick DIY YouTube tutorial for how to make them,” Klukas said in an interview with The Verge. “That really blew up, to the point where people were asking me for a ready-to-w...

Bill And Ted Face The Music Has Surprising Cameo By Beloved Character – GameSpot

You'll get to see Bill and Ted Face the Music yourself in September when the movie is released in theaters and on digital. However, at the movie's Comic-Con@Home panel, moderator Kevin Smith shared a truly exciting tease about something that happens in the movie. While discussing viewing the film for the first time, Smith let slip that George Carlin, who played Rufus in the first two movies, does appear in Face the Music. That is kind of a surprise, given that the comedian passed away in 2008. Rufus is in the final cut, though. As for how that's possible, chances are this has been done using archived and possibly unused footage from the first two films. It most likely won't be a major role in the film, though knowing Face the Music is going to p...

Twitter walkout planned after British rapper Wileys anti-Semitic tweets – NBC News

LONDON — Celebrities, politicians and other high profile Brits have pledged to join a 48-hour "walkout" from Twitter to protest what they say is an inadequate response to anti-Semitic tweets from a rapper. Wiley — who is considered a key figure in London’s grime music scene — is facing a police investigation after a string of anti-Semitic comments appeared on his social media accounts last week. The 41-year-old rapper, whose real name is Richard Cowie, has nearly half a million followers on his Twitter account, which is currently suspended. Some of his statements have been deleted by the social media giant for violating its "hateful conduct policy." But others remain, drawing criticism from other users of the platform. As a result, singer Jessie Ware, Doctor Who star Tracy-Ann Oberman a...

Farewell, Peter Green: The Timeless Blues Perfection of Fleetwood Mac’s Original Guitar Hero – Rolling Stone

If there’s one song that sums up the stoic guitar genius of Peter Green, it’s “Jumping at Shadows,” recorded live in February 1970, at the Boston Tea Party. Green was on top of the world; a 23-year-old rock star leading the London band he founded, Fleetwood Mac. They were the toast of Britain, riding their Number One hit “Albatross.” But “Jumping at Shadows” is a doomy blues ballad, his voice full of wistful dread, his guitar full of delicate pain. “I’m going downhill and I blame myself,” he sings. So much sadness in his fingers; so much tender fury. Peter Green’s serene, unhysterical sense of calm just makes the song scarier. He never lets his voice or guitar rise above a whisper, but you can hear the hellhounds on his trail. “Jumping at Shadows” tells the whole Peter Green stor...
