Better Coronavirus Stock: Moderna vs. VBI Vaccines – Motley Fool

Moderna (NASDAQ:MRNA) has become a household name this year thanks to the rapid speed with which it has been developing and testing its COVID-19 vaccine candidate, mRNA-1273. The stock has also been a big winner, soaring more than 300% so far in 2020.  But it's far from the only company attempting to develop coronavirus vaccine, and one far less well-known biotech in the hunt has seen its share price climb almost as much as Moderna's. That biotech is VBI Vaccines (NASDAQ:VBIV). Which of these two coronavirus-focused biotech stocks is the better pick for investors now? Here's how they stack up against each other. Image source: Getty Images. The case for Moderna It's pretty easy to build an argument for buying Moderna. Most importantly, the company is among the leaders in the race to de...

Young people are infecting older family members in shared homes – The Washington Post

The emerging trend highlights the difficulty of relying on the Trump administration’s strategy of sheltering the most vulnerable while the young and healthy return to work and school. That approach runs the risk of transmitting the virus when two or three generations share the same home and when many lower-income workers have little choice but to brave exposure to do their jobs. Young adults are among the essential workers who may be returning home to parents and grandparents. High school and college-age children may expose teachers, parents and grandparents. Sooner or later, doctors said, most older people and those with underlying health problems will mix with the younger generation. “We think when Texas started opening up, that was May 1, it was young people going to bars and restaur...

Regis Philbins wife Joy was often mistaken for Kathie Lee Gifford: People would see him with a redhead – USA TODAY

Regis Philbin and Kathie Lee Gifford's chemistry was so dynamic that many people mistook them for a married couple in real life.  During ABC News' "Regis Philbin: The Morning Maestro – A Special Edition of 20/20" Tuesday, Philbin's wife, Joy, said she was commonly mistaken for his former "Live! With Regis and Kathie Lee" co-host.   "People often called me Kathie Lee because we resemble each other," Philbin said during the prime-time special. "People would see him with a redhead and think it was, of course, Kathie Lee." But Philbin said the mix-ups never made her envious.  "Women have asked me if I had to deal with any jealousies, because he does spend a lot of time with very beautiful, very smart women," said Philbin, who also guest-hosted "Live!" with her husband. "We have been marri...

Madonna shares same coronavirus video as Trump, Instagram flags: report – Fox News

Instagram reportedly flagged a post on Madonna’s account Tuesday after the iconic singer reposted the same coronavirus video that was shared by President Trump that prompted Twitter to remove his tweet. USA Today reported that the video that was linked to her account, which is followed by 15 million, was blurred out with a warning that declared the video contained “False Information.” “The Truth will set us all Free,” she wrote, according to the Daily Mail. “But some people don’t want to hear the truth.” Trump, his son Donald Trump Jr., and others shared the video of a group of doctors promoting hydroxychloroquine as a treatment for COVID-19 on Facebook and Twitter, prompting both companies to remove the content. The decision to remove the videos sparked conservative claims of “censo...

Wearing a Mask Might Protect the Wearer From Severe COVID-19, a New Study Says – Yahoo Lifestyle

Experts have been recommending face masks as a way to prevent the spread of coronavirus; the wearer of the face mask can protect people around them because the mask blocks respiratory droplets, which have been identified as a main means of COVID-19 transmission. But could wearing a face mask also protect the wearer? It's a possibility, according to a new paper from researchers at the University of California - San Francisco and John Hopkins, which will be published in the Journal of General Internal Medicine. The paper draws on "virologic, epidemiologic, and ecologic evidence" to make the argument that wearing a face mask could result in a lower "viral dose," or amount of coronavirus particles, taken in by a wearer exposed to the virus. And according to several studies cited by the re...

Rembrandt, Miro fetch millions at Sothebys virtual auction – The Associated Press

LONDON (AP) — A self-portrait by Rembrandt sold for 14.5 million pounds ($18.7 million) at a Sotheby’s virtual auction Tuesday — a record price for a self-portrait by the Dutch master, the auctioneer’s said. Sotheby’s said that the top end of the art market was “in rude health” and that its new live-streamed auction format, introduced because of the coronavirus pandemic, brought in a total of $192.7 million Tuesday. “Self portrait wearing a ruff and black hat,” from 1632 when Rembrandt was aged 26, was sought by six bidders. It fell within the 12 to 16 million pounds estimate. The last self-portrait by Rembrandt to appear at auction was sold for 6.9 million pounds in 2003, Sotheby’s added. The painting sold Tuesday was one of only three self-portraits by the painter to remain in private ...
