Human foot found on rural Templeton road belongs to crash victim, officials say – KSBY San Luis Obispo News

A human foot found along a rural Templeton road belongs to a driver whose legs were severed in a crash along Highway 101 earlier this month, according to the San Luis Obispo County Sheriff's Office. Investigators were called to the area near Santa Rita Road Sunday at around 9:15 a.m. after a bicyclist reported finding the foot. While the sheriff's office initially called the remains "suspicious in nature," saying it was too early in the investigation to determine if the discovery was the result of an accident or foul play," the California Highway Patrol on Monday told KSBY News it was likely linked to an earlier crash. The sheriff's office confirmed that information Wednesday, saying with the help of the Santa Barbara County Sheriff's Office and its rapid DNA process, it was determined th...

Fauci recommends eye protection to prevent contracting coronavirus – Axios

NIAID director Anthony Fauci told ABC News in an Instagram live discussing the coronavirus pandemic Wednesday evening, "If you have goggles or an eye shield, you should use it." Why it matters: Eye protection is not currently included in formal guidance on COVID-19. The CDC currently only advises that health care workers use eye protection "in areas with moderate to substantial community transmission." By the numbers: More than 150,000 people in the U.S. have died of the novel coronavirus and over 4.4 million have been infected as of Wednesday night, per Johns Hopkins. What they're saying: ABC's Jennifer Ashton asked Fauci if he could envision the point where eye protection would be recommended, he replied: "It might, if you really want perfect protection of the mucosal surfaces." Fau...

Gleeson looks convincing as Donald Trump. Showtime The Comey Rule, a mini-series based on James Comey's book A Higher Loyalty, is set to be shown on Showtime on September 27 and 28. Netflix is bringing back Black sitcoms Moesha and Sister Sister, and I cannot contain my excitement – The Verge

Spread the word: Netflix has secured the rights to stream some of the best Black sitcoms from the 90s and 2000s — including my personal favorites Moesha, Sister Sister, and The Parkers, all of which I fondly remember watching as a little girl. I still remember running to my room to turn on the TV, singing the R&B theme songs for each show (they were so energetic and catchy that I memorized the lyrics word by word), and how amazing it was to see TV sitcoms targeted to my demographic. There weren’t a ton of black TV shows, with black female leads taking charge, that focused on things I personally struggled with growing up. I was pretty young when these three shows had their initial runs (I was born in 1995), but thanks to reruns throughout the 2000s, I got to experience these sho...

Exclusive: Buddy, first dog to test positive for COVID-19 in the U.S., has died – National Geographic

Buddy liked dog stuff: running through the sprinklers, going on long car rides, swimming in the lake. He cuddled the Mahoneys—his owners and family—at the end of tough days. He humored them when they dressed him up as a bunny for Halloween. He was a protective big brother to 10-month-old Duke, the family’s other German shepherd. He loved everyone. He lived up to his name. In mid-April, right before his seventh birthday, Buddy began struggling to breathe. Six weeks later, he became the first dog in the United States to be confirmed positive for SARS-CoV-2, the coronavirus that causes COVID-19. On July 11, Buddy died. Photos of Buddy and the Mahon...
