Who wouldn’t want their Echo Dot to look like Baby Yoda? – The Verge

There are plenty of things I could tell you about Otterbox’s new stand for the third-generation Amazon Echo Dot smart speaker. I could tell you about its “durable materials” or how it’s designed to “securely” hold on to your Echo device. The Amazon listing even claims its “precision-fit, non-slip base” is “engineered for optimal audio output.” But you and I both know that none of that really matters, because what’s really important here is that this base adds little tiny Emmy-nominated Baby Yoda* ears to the sides of your Echo Dot. If you want to pretend that you’re actually speaking to The Mandalorian character every time you ask Alexa to set a timer, then this is (probably) the easiest way to do it. It’s “engineered for...

First dog to test positive for coronavirus in US dies: Report – Times of India

WASHINGTON: The first dog to test positive for the coronavirus in the United States has died, National Geographic magazine reported, after struggling with symptoms that may be familiar to many of the virus's human sufferers. Buddy the seven-year-old German shepherd became sick in April, around the same time his owner Robert Mahoney was recovering from Covid-19, according to the magazine this week. Buddy seemed to have a stuffed nose and difficulty breathing, and his condition only worsened over the following weeks and months. Mahoney and his wife Allison, who live in New York, eventually euthanized the dog on July 11 after Buddy began vomiting blood clots, urinating blood and was unable to walk. But the family told National Geographic they had a hard time confirming their suspi...

Coronavirus: 1 in 3 COVID-19 patients have symptoms that don’t go away – Deseret News

About one-third of coronavirus patients have symptoms that don’t go away, according to a new report from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. The report — which focused on patients who were not hospitalized from the coronavirus — found patients experience symptoms weeks and months after they first tested positive. Patients with COVID-19 did not return to their regular level of health within two to three weeks of the diagnosis. In fact, 1 in 5 patients have not returned to normal health. Lingering symptoms included fatigue, cough, congestion, dyspnea, loss of taste and smell, chest pain and confusion. Other symptoms, like vomiting, nausea, fever and chills, did not last as long. “COVID-19 can result in prolonged illness, even among young adults without underlying c...

Beaches closures extension official – KRIS Corpus Christi News

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — Local leaders are extending the ban on vehicular traffic for Nueces County beaches until Aug. 17. County Judge Barbara Canales made that news official moments ago at Thursday’s daily city-county joint news briefing. The new order goes into effect Friday. Vehicles haven’t been allowed on Nueces County beaches since before the Fourth of July weekend. The ban was set to expire Saturday morning. That means for another two weeks, the only way to the beach is by foot. “The cars down there, they park wherever they want, and this allows people to have more space,” said Rebecca McKinzie. McKinzie and her family regularly vacation here from Fort Worth. She believes keeping vehicles off the beach is a good thing. This is not as crowded as it normally is when we come down here...

Pet owners shouldnt panic about the dog that died after COVID-19 infection – CNET

How do dogs respond to COVID-19? Getty/Darian Traynor The coronavirus pandemic is often discussed in terms of waves. First waves, second waves. The information surrounding the pandemic works in a similar way, particularly as scientists learn more about how the disease spreads and who -- or what -- it infects. Several companion animals tested positive for COVID-19 during the early days of the pandemic. In March, a 17-year-old dog in Hong Kong became infect...

Alanis Morissette Returns With Such Pretty Forks in the Road: Stream It Now – Billboard

Isn’t it ironic, we’re all stuck at home with no new music to play. That statement’s not entirely accurate, seeing as Alanis Morissette has blessed us with the release of Such Pretty Forks in the Road, her ninth studio album. Pretty Forks arrives 25 years after her iconic album Jagged Little Pill, which ruled the Billboard 200 for 12 weeks and gave us the classics “Hand in My Pocket,” “You Oughta Know,” “Ironic” and more. The Canadian songstress was to mount a major global tour to celebrate the milestone, but it has been pushed back due to the pandemic. Spanning 11 tracks, Such Pretty Forks in the Road is the Canadian songstress’s first LP since 2012. It was meant to drop May 1 but it too was delayed because of the health crisis. The new set was written and recorded between...
