Doctor says young Parkland patient caught COVID-19 at party, spread it to grandfather who died – WFAA.com

“The human toll of COVID is really the untold story,” said Parkland Hospital's chief medical officer Dr. Joseph Chang. DALLAS — Dr. Joseph Chang can rattle off numbers and statistics without looking at any notes. As of July 21, Parkland Hospital, where Chang is chief medical officer, was treating about 170 COVID-19 patients. Los Angeles Coronavirus Update: Mayor Eric Garcetti Says, “We Need To Assume COVID-19 Is Everywhere Right Now” – Deadline

“We need to assume that COVID-19 is everywhere right now,” said Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti at his Wednesday Coronavirus briefing. He reported 3,266 new coronavirus cases in the region for a total of 164,870 cases. That means the 7-day average of daily new infections has more than doubled in the past month. One reason for the rise? A new demographic. People under 41 years old now make up the majority of new cases in the region. Garcetti said there had been a near-record 2,207 COVID-related hospitalizations in L.A. County as of Wednesday. That’s just 25 patients below the all-time high of 2,232, which was recorded on Monday. It marked the fourth day in a row that hospitalizations were above 2,000. Given the lower demand for ICU beds and ventilators among healthier young...

‘Walking Dead’ Trial Ruling Sees AMC Rip Robert Kirkman; Ominous Sign For Frank Darabont & CAA NYC Case? – Deadline

In a decision that may prove prophetic for Frank Darabont and CAA’s long-fought $300 million The Walking Dead profit-participation battle against AMC, the cabler just won a major victory that could prove a death knell to Robert Kirkman and other executive producers’ own legal actions against it. After a delay of several months due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic essentially shutting down the courts, a Los Angeles Superior Court judge on Wednesday finally ruled on TWD comic creator Kirkman’s mini-trial to resolve contract interpretations with AMC arising out of a potentially multimillion-dollar case filed in August 2017. With definitions and language centering on the likes of Modified Adjusted Gross Receipts and imputed license fees, Judge Daniel Buckley pummeled Ki...

People Are Calling Out the MCU for Its Lack of Diversity — Again – Showbiz Cheat Sheet

The promises of the Marvel Cinematic Universe to diversify their movies are still mostly in development if slowly coming true. More women are finally being represented, and (slowly but surely) more minorities are also gaining substantial roles. Regardless, other things are still too much at a snail’s pace. While talks go on, other areas are lacking and only being discussed rather than truly implemented. One would think more women would be at the forefront by now at the MCU. Plus, more minorities need representing, something fans on social media are still discussing every day. Where is MCU really faltering in the way of diversity? Marvel should be reading a few discussions going on, namely on Reddit. Kevin Feige, Chris Hemsworth, Chris Evans, Robert Downey Jr., S...
